Basketball?

Does anyone think its possible, with the rise of the Aggie basketball team and what some are reffering to as the declining football program, the TAMU could become a basketball school more so than football? Just wondering what yalls thoughts are.

No. I think football will always be number 1 at A&M. There is too much tradition that goes with the program. Compare that to practically no tradition for our basketball team. I think that basketball will continue to grow and get great support. Billy G is the man! But, football is too much of a part of A&M's identity to take a back seat to any other sport.

I will say this though.... (and i think football will always be #1 here). If we win a NC in basketball relatively soon I think alot of people will start to move over to the basketball camp. If we do I think a major expansion of reed will be in order because 12.5k just wont be enough seats.

Florida just won a NC in basketball, and I still view them very much a football school.

This is Texas. No school in Texas could ever be anything but a football school. It's our culture.

I don't think basketball would ever replace football as the number 1 sport. However I do see a good basketball team making it easier to recruit overall. That way we don't look like such a one dimensional school.
