Would they have won the National Championship yet?

With Mack Brown? Not a chance.
Better yet...would they have beaten OU? Or won a single conference title?

I'd hate to see Roy, Reggie, and Benson together

It would've been scarier than Young, Williams and Benson...
The point is, could Reggie have done what Vince can't...(and no, I don't mean throw the ball with some accuracy :D ) -- win the Big XII and National Championship?

Well I think the proper question is would Reggie have developed as much passing the ball under Mack as he has under Fran?

Pure speculation. I wouldn't even bother.

We would have probably gone 6-5, or 7-4 at best!

With Cedric Benson running the ball, Reggie passing the ball, Derrick Johnson leading a good defense, and Vince Young catching Touchdown passes all over the place, you would have been pretty good.
But like someone else said before, it didn't happen and everything is pure speculation at this point.

We would have probably used MCKneel as a special teams player and not a QB. When McKneel can improve his winning percentages call us. I know the phone won't be ringing any time soon. <snicker>

I've never heard it worded without asking somebody to clarify. :D
See, I can do it too.

Wow...and that is when you know the argument has been won. When a grammar point is made....
Thank you for making it that much better :D :D :D

Not with Vince Young on the team. Mack needs a passer, and Vince isn't one.
Reggie "McKneel" was the only QB in the country to average over 230 yards passing and over 55 yards rushing per game last year. You know what that represents? BALANCE. Reggie is the most BALANCED dual-threat QB in the nation.

Yes he has balance just looking at his winning percentages, just about even there too. Now that is balance. Balance is something common at anm. 6-5, 7-4 now that is balance.

I think that winning is more of a reflection of the team than of one individual player. Reggie is a great player, but he can't carry a team by himself in the Big 12. In fact, I don't think anyone not named Adrian Peterson can. Reggie actually played a great game against Baylor this year, but our defense blew it. 34 points should be enough. Also, Reggie was the hero who ran a QB Draw for a 65-yard TD against K-State on third and long late in the fourth quarter. He can't win every game by himself, but Reggie is a solid performer and great leader who can be a deadly playmaker. And hey, Reggie beat OU when he was 18. :p
I think that Vince is a great runner and has a done very well breaking tackles and juking. However, the only passing that he's been consistent with is short dump-offs to the TE. In college you can put the ball in the best athlete's hands on every play by making him QB, and it works. In the pros, I seriously think that Reggie will play QB and VY won't. VY is similar to Matt Jones (WR for the Jaguars) and Eric Crouch (Playing safety in NFL Europe).

I think many will be surprised this coming season with VY, and honestly a pass is a pass and those short dump passes do produce yardage. Honestly in the NFL how often do you see WR running long patterns? Actually in the NFL TE's catch about as many passes as WR's do these days

Huh?
The TE position is barely a catching position and outside of Gonzalez, SD's TE, and maybe 2-3 others....its non-existent.
How many times do we see WR running long patterns?
Did you happen to watch an actual NFL game last year?
Manning? Brady (heck...its how they won the Pitt game)? Eagles with Owens? Moss?
Huh?

Honestly I am not much into pro football, but when I've watched a game or two I have seen QB's throwing to the RB's out in the flat or their TE's on a short curl. Yes there are some downfield throws but statistically not as many as in the past. Tony Gonzales may be the most used but to say that other teams do not utilize theirs would be incorrect. So anyone can scramble and hit an open man 5-10 yards downfield? If you say yes to that then you do not know much about football. I would rather have a QB that can scramble then one that can't!

Jeremy Shockey, one of the most celebrated TEs in the NFL, has 10 TDs in 3 years. He has started every game in those three years also.

Man, Horn.
You blew it with those last two post...lost all credibility. And the arguement about Reggie's win %age is the exact point that everyone is proving. Reggie's winning percentage is lower, but his overall stats are better (assuming the VY is still considered a QB.) So, the question is posed--How good would tu have been with a QB who is as balanced as Reggie is? Or if you'd like we can flip-flop it. What would Reggie's win %age be if he had a first-round WR & RB--along with an OL full of All-Americans & first team All-conference--lining up with him & a defense that has had (off the top of my head) at least 2 first rounders in the last 3 years.

I thought Shockey hurt his knee or something (and just because a guy is celebrated doesn't make him good). (See almost any Heisman winner in the NFL)

Honestly who knows how good we'd been if Reggie was here, it all depends on how he would have responded to those rushes that VY escaped.

That is your evidence as to why the NFL is not a downfield throwing league?
