I think it happens more than you'd like to think.
I think it's funny that Scioscia made them check the glove in the bottom of the 7th after his pitcher just got thrown out for it. Honestly, how dumb do you have to be to go out with something on your glove after a guy on the other team just got thrown out for it??

Sadly i think you right, too many cheaters playing the game right now.

Well, think about why.
If you win more than 10 games as a pitcher, you're pretty much guaranteed another year in the majors. When the majors pay you $1.0 mill a season (or even $750K), you do what you can to stay there when the Minors are only paying $50 plus traveling expenses or some crazy thing like that.
Disclaimer: I know nothing about how MLB pays its players, but I'm guessing the gap between majors and minors is probably substantial.

I would say 60% of the HOF pitchers used something illegal

I was probably higher than that back in the day, and has been slightly decreasing as time has gone forward.

Rollie Fingers and Nikero did it all the time.

Cheating in baseball. It's been happening since 1876 or so.

This thread is more proof of how damaging the steroids scandals are hurting baseball. Although there is probably truth to it, Americans have never been as skeptical about cheater in baseball as they are now. Now, we all assume that it is rampant at every level.
