It's not all that. The fight sequences were stupid, they were jumbled both before and after his training, so what did he learn? The first one should have been jumbled meaning he was a brawler and cleared up as he became Batman. There were cool parts, and it was worth the admission, but it didn't meet my expectations

Thanks for the update...I, strangely, haven't been that excited about seeing it. There are several movies out right now that I'd rather see instead of it. But, I'll eventually see it and add my 2 cents.

I saw it and really liked it. The first one with Jack Nicholson as the Joker can't ever be beaten, but the three after that one were just plain crap. This one was darker and more serious than the cartoony ones with Jim Carrey and Arnold Swartzenegger (sp?).

Did you know this one is different from all the rest? They already have a sequel planned, which is the one with the Joker in it. All the cast will be back except Katie Holmes (the director said he wants a stronger actress). This one is much darker and is aligned more with the comic books.
In the original one, the Joker kills Batman's father. After seeing the new one, you notice some other guy did (this is how it happened for real). Just an FYI. I had heard the name somewhere, but forgot what it is already. Batman: something. :D

i agree it's closer to the comics. However, the villians in this one were poorly contrived. Why was the Scarecrow evil, why was he a henchman of Raz. There roles were well acted, but poorly defined. If you read the comics you could fill in the blanks, but the average audience member couldn't. They had a great into, to go along with substandard villians and crap fightin scenes. I'd give it a C. I mean you know that Raz is immortal right, he himself brought down those empires. He could get up and find a new way to disperse the water 10 hours later. So dumb the way it ended. Batman should have pulled a Superman and hurled him into the sun (except with a super cannon).

This is why movies today suck, people put up with bad direction and lack of planning in a movie and say man it looked cool. This just reenforces to Hollywood, make movies look cool with no thought. When a movie is slow, today ADD public thinks it sucks. Oh wait that was Speilberg does in every movie, he can't make movies worth a ****. He is great as a story teller, but he has no aptitude for shooting a film. Tarentino, Kubrick, Scorsese knew/know how films were supposed to be made. Today i consider 80% of people idiots in art and culture so Hollywood doesn't feel a need to make the impressive movies, it's sad. Oh well i guess there will only continue to be 3 movies a year worth a damn.
Sorry for the rant. I hate filmakers today  or more

Aren't the point of movies to be visual stories? So wouldn't being a great storyteller (like Spielberg) help in this genre?

If anyone other than Tarentino made a film like his films, it would only be a copycat. That guy truly has his own style and it's good.
Kubrick? Isn't that the guy who made 'Eyes Wide Shut' ?
