There's actually a league I just started this weekend on Yahoo! for aggiefans.

Here's the thread link:
http://www.aggiefans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=868

And the league sign up:
http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/25923

Lonnie and Econag are already signed up with me. It has slots for 20 people and a live draft set for Sept 3 at 10 pm (after the A&M game).

Only thing is in your team name include your aggiefans name (ex. Vlyrock's Vandals). That way, we know who's who.

You don't have to be present to draft. It will automatically draft for you if you can't make it based on a pre-made list of yours.

Honestly, it's pointless to have two small leagues if we can have one big one...know what I mean?

:D Okay don't make too much fun of MarylandAg, I don't know the first thing about fantasy football, but it is something I've always wanted to try, so I will join both leagues, if you guys give me help getting started, so where do I go to get a feel of how to play? Also, can someone post a summary of how you play, as in what is the objective? how is it scored? how/where do you get started? Any cost involved? etc. Pretend you are explaining it to a 10 yr old, because believe me when I tell you, I don't know the first thing about it. :D

Maryland, the game is pretty simple.

You use real football players that play on Sunday. Depending on how the league is set up, you either draft live in person on a website, through a pre-made list where you rank the players, etc. You rank the players according to their ability to score points in your league. Obviously, the Mannings, Tomlinson's, Harrison's, etc that find the end zone often are good guys to pick up.

Scoring directly reflects on field performance. Meaning a Peyton Manning touchdown to Marvin Harrison gets you 6 points like he threw a touchdown for your team. You also get points depending on how many yards the QB throws for, or how many yards your RB had. You lose points for fumbles, but gain points if your defense does something good.

You match up all your players that day vs the other guys players and whoever has the highest score, wins.

It's really simple...just hard because it's hard to know which quarterback will have a better day, etc. and sometimes you end up playing the wrong guy and benching the right guy.

Could we please NOT do an automated draft.

I want to pick my players

we could try but its so hard to get everyone there at the same time. If one person forgets then it takes forever. We will see what happens.

You can sign up whenever. The league is open. Just follow the link and click to sign up. There's room for 20 guys and we're sitting at about 5. There's room for everybody.

(And it's a live draft).

If someone doesnt actually take their first pick, it gets put on auto so in fact people not being there makes it quicker.

Oh really? once that happend to our draft and it made us wait the entire time on each pick. Well that will be me in this draft cause I wont be near a computer then.

How do i use my team avatar for my logo like it asked

Vlyrock
06-14-2005, 10:49 AM
I think you have to click one of those helmets while you're registering. That will serve as your "team logo".

Other than that, I'm not sure what you mean. Yahoo! runs it, so if you need help, try checking their FAQ.

Sounds like a freaking blast. Couple of questions, do you draft every week? So like say for instance you think Brees is going to go off this weekend you pick him, and say next week you think Smith will have rookies luck like Rothlesburger, so you switch to him? Also when you compete are you competing against one other person or a group of folks, like say this weekend my team matches up against Vly's and next week I have to play Polish, etc.?
What determines draft order? Heck I may be able to talk Mrs. MarylandAg into playing, she is as competitive as me, and she loves pro ball, she is a fanatical Dallas Cowboys fan :D , women like that are damn hard to find. :)

The draft order is picked randomly by Yahoo! 10 minutes prior to the draft. You will draft your entire team (say 2 quarterbacks and 3 running backs). This is your team for the entire season. You can only start one quarterback, so you'll pick between the 2 on your roster, which one to start. You'll only get points for people that you start, that's why it sucks when your bench guy has a career game, and your starting QB throws 3 interceptions. You're also allowed to trade or place guys on injured reserve if they go down to an injury. You can also claim undrafted players off of waivers (ex. Gates TE from San Diego may have gone undrafted last year in some leagues...after his first 6 touchdowns, you'd want to claim him on waivers). You just can't go over the roster limit (I don't remember what that's set up at).

The schedule is a round-robin type schedule where it's head-to-head vs a team. The league is split into two conferences. The top 8 teams based ib W/L record advance to a playoff.

How does the playoff work?

Vlyrock
06-14-2005, 03:12 PM
Same as the season. The playoffs start in Week 15 (or 14)....

The #1 seed goes head-to-head vs the #8 team (or #4 team in the conference) -- I'm not sure if conference has an effect on playoff teams...but it's pretty much the same as the regular season with weeks 15,16 and 17 being used as the playoff weeks.

Oh, ok. I was thinking what if my best guys didn't make the playoffs
