Why did Dan Hawkins go there? They were talking yesterday on the sports reporters round table about the situation there.
1. The athletic department is in peril and last year took an 8 million dollar loan from the university.
2. They can't even come close to filling a ~50,000 seat stadium
3. After the loss last weekend the few boosters and donors they have are threatening to pull funds.
4. They said the game this weekend is a "have to win" because they're hoping to get tv the next weekend. Getting on tv is basically the only way they can make it through the season financially.
This sounds bad and seems like a school the Big 12 could considering dropping for TCU somehow.

I think Hawkins can win but when he gets his own players to run his type of offense and defense. I think that will take about 4 years.

Ordinarily I was discount this sort of thing, but there was an article on CNNSI today talking about Hawkins. CU's atheletic department just sounds messed up.
His computer hasn't worked for a week, apparently, and there's all kinds of other problems. It just sounds like a really shoddy operation.
Thing is, athletically, CU doesn't even field a baseball team. Their basketball team can occassionally put up a fight, but no one ever goes to the games.
I can't imagine the Big 12 dumping anyone, but CU is in bad shape.

All Big 12 schools are guaranteed a certain number of televised games, so Colorado has nothing to worry about there. Even if they lose this week, I am pretty sure that games at home vs. Arizona State and at Georgia the next week will both be televised.
Does anyone know if all Big 12 schools get the same amount of $$$ from the media contract. I assume they do. I wouldn't think that the sips get more just b/c their game vs. North Texas was televised.

To answer your question, P-ville, I think all TV revenue is divided evenly. I know that all bowl money is, so I would assume that all TV money is too.

Here's a gem about CU from some Husker fans:

Boise State destroyed Oregon State tonight. Dan Hawkins needs to be on suicide watch.

That was very impressive thrashing.

Especially since Oregon State jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Boise State has an inside track to the BCS where they're at -- if they play a little tougher non-conference (much like TCU).
I don't know why Hawkins left for troubled CU. Sure it's a much more high profile school...but losing to 1-AA Montana State is never a good thing. :D

I am still in awe of the Montana St program in their victory over CU. One primary thing I don't envy is the hangovers the majority of their fans had the day after their glorious victory. :)

Did y'all know that after last weeks win, Montana State has a 3-game winning streak against Colorado?

I would have never have guessed that...

CU needs a Boone Pickens or even a Dan Rather to come to their financial rescue.
But then again there was a time where A&M played Rice every year in Houston so our budget could be made.
Don't be so fast to laugh at CU's issues.

Slot, I am not laughing at CU's issues, I am praising a rare victory by an underdog.
