I would say that tech would run away with this thing, which I'm assuming is what you're thinking too. I still don't understand how they had over 500 yards of offense, only 1 TO, & only scored 35 points against SMU.

I expect the game to be closer than most think. Tech has consistently over the past few years not played well on the road. However, I have a feeling the final score will be somewhere in the range of Tech 38 - UTEP 27.

i would love to see tech lose this game, but i would like to bet on tech at -7. i guess if i make that better, either way i win. i'm happy if tech covers and i'm happy if tech loses

I remember hearing something on the Houston sports radio that Tech covered last year like 80% of the time. Don't hold me to that but I do remember hearing something like that last year.

Actually, you're way off (but I'm not holding you to it). Tech covered in less than 50% of their lined games.

FIU (-35) W 56-3
Kansas (-17.5) L 30-17
@ Nebraska (-4) L 34-31
Kansas State (-14.5) W 59-20
@ Texas (+16.5) L 52-17
@ Baylor (-12.5) W 28-0
Texas A&M (-13.5) W 56-17
@ Oklahoma State (-22) L 17-24
Oklahoma (-7.5) L 23-21

ATS they went 4-5 (44.4%).

Maybe that was the year before then. I heard by the guy that always came on the radio on 610 in houston to talk about football lines. I bet it was the year before because I was traveling a lot last year and didn't listen to the radio. If I am wrong with this as well, I must have been dreaming. :D

UTEP is supposed to be good (they have Palmer still at QB), but you never know with them. I don't remember their last game or the score, but they got blown out by Toledo in their bowl game. They have an explosive offense...the question is -- will it show up?

well. does anyone think the spread will drop below -7 for tech?

cause if not, i think i am going to go ahead and get on it at -7. wouldn't want to see it get any higher.

I don't think it will get lower then 7. UTEP can score some points. I don't think it's as attractive as I thought when I first saw it.

I still took it, though. I took alot of bets and I'll probably post them all pretty soon since I want to bet on the Thursday game just because.

yah, i went ahead and got it. this stat does worry me though.

Texas Tech is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games on the road

I'm going to post my plays soon too. Tech -7 isn't a bad bet -- just have to be sure that offense is there (they only scored 35 against SMU). I'd probably have laid off it one more week just to see what type of team Tech had.

Here are some more stats for you, Tro.

They are 3-9 ATS the last 2 years after a SU win.

They are 4-6 SU & 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 road openers.

Maybe this is what HDRV was talking about--they are 35-8 ATS (81%) since '94 after a SU loss.

It was some stat they said on the radio. That was probably it.
