Major League Baseball tried sewing small ads on players’ jerseys a few years back, and the ensuing uproar quickly ended that strategy. But if the NBA follows through with this, they’ll have to be consistent across the board.
I have heard them talk about this before. I don't think you can compare it to baseball though just because baseball traditionalists are hell bent on keeping tradition. They made an uproar when Spiderman 2 was put on the bases (but I agree with that -- it looked retarded).
Look at Bobby Knight - he started it, and honestly, he doesn't look too silly. But where could you put it on a jersey? Also, would you sell replica jerseys with it? That'd be a good deal for corporations. Every Shaq jersey someone buys will be sporting ads for tampax or miller lite. Free walking billboards throughout the city of Miami -- it's a must do for corporations, and a stay away warning sign for the NBA.

Won't happen.

If you've ever seen a European pro-basketball game you will know what it looks like to have ads on the jerseys. It's about like European pro soccer teams, but not as bad as NASCAR.

That was true and funny.
