This is the last race of the Triple Crown and MarylandAg has volunteered to donate a $25 money order to whoever can get the Belmont prediction the closest. It's free, so even if you know nothing about horse racing, put in a guess - you may get lucky!

You must select 4 horses. Win, Place, Show (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) with a 4th place finisher as your tie-breaker. If you should end up tied with somebody after the first 3 horses, whoever's 4th horse finishes better in the field will win. If both players are tied and have select the same 4th place horse, a tie-breaker will be determined later (probably selecting a stat or score in an upcoming Aggie Athletic event).

Use this thread only to post your 4 horses. Discuss your picks or make fun of someone else's on another thread. You may not edit your selections after you post them. If you wish to change a selection, pm me and I will update it for you. If it says - "edited by your username" your selection will not be valid. All picks must be in an hour before post time. Post time is scheduled to start (I'll put it whenever we find out ).

The point system is as follows:
25 points for correct Winner (1st)
15 points for correct Place (2nd)
5 points for correct Show (3rd)
1 point for any of your top 3 finishing in the top 3 but not in the same position you predicted
(example, your first place winner finishes second - you get one point)

There is a 10 point bonus for getting consecutive horses right (1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd)

Most points wins, tiebreakers are settled as per above.

The odds and horses are posted below.

Good Luck and Thanks Again MarylandAg

Andromeda's Hero to win
Afleet Alex to place
Giacomo to show
Reverberate in 4th

I think that there are about 3 horses in this race that are out of the Secretariat blood line.

Okay, here goes a crap shoot :p

1. Afleet Alex
2. Giacamo
3. Chekhov
4. Reverberate

Lonnie, I am a big fan of Big Red, there is a black and white photo, where he is winning the Belmont, the jockey is looking back, and the second place horse is way in the distance, a timeless photo :D .

Loftin

Good afternoon guys, sorry I've been away from the computer since Friday afternoon, and I just read my PM's and I had one from Vly saying he is out of town until today. Let me take a few minutes to check if we had any entries emailed prior to post time, if they are marked one hour before post time, I will enter them as conditional picks, like Welker's up above. I will get back with a winner shortly. Sorry for the delay :p

CG's (From TexAgs), this are conditional picks just like Welker's above that Vly posted. Picks were received at 12:21 pm yesterday.

1. Afleet Alex
2. South Africa
3. AP Arrow
4. Chekov

MarylandAG

Okay those are all the entries that were received and according to my calculations, (MarylandAg can't do math so he had to edit his post :p ). There were several entries at 26 points (picking afleet alex 1st and 1 point for any of their top 3 finishing in the top 3) :p , here are the ties:

12th Man at 26
Structural Poke at 26
MarylandAg at 26
Loftin at 26
Vlyrock at 26
Welker at 26
Yeah at 26
CG at 26

However, Graphic Cowboy had two horses finish in the top three so he wins with 27 points! :p Send a PM to Vlyrock on how to get your money order. Congrat and thanks for playing.

Actually, I've got Graphic Cowboy winning it without the tie breaker...According to my calculations, he's the only one who got two horses in the top 3.

He got Afleet Alex correct and got Andromeda's Hero at 3rd which gives him 26 points. Everybody else got 25 because they got Afleet Alex winning correct. If you get the horse right, you don't get the one extra point for the horse finishing in the top 3 and you get it right. Even if we did do the scoring that way, Graphical Cowboy would have 27 and everybody else 26. Check me Maryland Ag, but pretty sure that would make him the winner.

Sorry, that's my fault. I didn't realize that extra point for Graphic. Apologies go out to Structural :) . So Big Congratulations go out to Graphic Cowboy! :p Oh by the way, CG was also in the running at 26 points.

I wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone for participating and to Vly for taking the time to design the contest. This was a lot of fun, and a special congrats to our three winners, Structural Poke in the Derby, Yeah in the Preakness, and Graphic Cowboy in the Belmont. Look for this contest to return next year, and make sure you participate in the 2nd Annual Aggiefans.com Triple Crown Pick'em Contest :p :p Again thank you Vly and thanks to everyone :D

I actually didn't look at other posts until I made mine just so I didn't get any ideas. Great minds, eh?
