Is there anyone else concerned that the new version will dishonor the original? Bad News Bears is personal to me because in my opinion while not the greatest movie, by far has the best "Movie Ending" of all time without question. When they give the bears thier 2nd place trophy and the bears throw it back at them and tell them to "Stick it up thier ass" and then start chugging beer I tear up everytime. (No Lie) :) :) If I ever have a son and he wins 2nd place in anything I fully expect him to chunk it right back and have a beer with dad. :p
But anyway, back to the subject at hand, I don't think in our PC world they can do something like Bad News Bears. In today's world can you put third graders in a movie and have them throw out N-bombs and every other cuss word you can think of? The racial stuff won't fly I think. Not to mention the beer drinking and just general anarchy of the movie.
Plus another way they will screw up the movie is that they won't recognize that the movie was really mainly about the Coach and his struggles with life and alcoholism.
But anyway, the good news is that it's directed by Richard Linklater (sp?) so he may end up pulling this crap off.
