View Full Version : pathetic wannabe Aggies
The Massacre

on a thread discussing whether there would be PPV for the 3 non-televised OOC games, someone brought up the frequency of posts of someone saying that they couldn't get to the game.
the statement below is pathetic. Kyle Field is our field and all Aggies should try to make it to the games there. if you have other obligations or can't afford it, that's acceptable, but don't expect our AD to accomodate you if you are a 2%er with no excuse.

its easier to pay 15 bucks for everyone to watch with replays and air conditioning, then pay 70 a head to sit in the 100 degree heat and sweat your arse off.

No I agree with you. The keyboard was too far away to respond with anything other than that :D
I don't know why people expect PPV when the games arn't sold out.

Even if the opponent isn't good, we need to give our team the moral and financial support of attending the games. To be a top tier program, we need the fanbase to support that status.

what if you can't afford it? Like you're on a tight budget as you try to get into the real world.

What constitutes a good excuse?
The Massacre
08-20-2006, 09:52 PM
money, family, work, God, etc.
really depends i guess.
i don't guess anyone has to have an excuse to not go to the game, BUT if a person decides not to go, they shouldn't complain about the game not being on PPV, unless it is sold out.

actually, the original point is similar to what i saw someone else say.
if attending an A&M home game is low on your priority list (for whatever reason), then making it available on PPV for you shouldn't be a high priority for our AD.

but wouldn't you think with the number of graduates that A&M produces every year that are probably spread out all over the country and don't have an opportunity to attend the game that PPV games for ours would have very high ratings? Which is just that much more money (do we get money off of that?) Plus people that come to Kyle come for the experience. They're not going to quite coming just because it's on tv. You don't see a drop off because it's on FSSW.

i wouldn't think that the PPV raise very much revenue, but it's possible.
my original post and point of this thread is not aimed at Aggies out of state, but rather those who could go the game and just don't want to and then they complain about no PPV.
i'm not saying i am against PPV, i just get tired of listening to 2%ers who want to sit at home complain about no PPV. Get to Kyle!

If you are tight on cash, I understand prioritizing games. When I graduate, I will likely be in that same situation. People who pay $30 for PPV are generally people who can afford game tickets.

If you got the money and the time, then you should be in the stands.

yeah if "money" is a real issue the 20-30 would be as much of an issue as the 40-50 to go to the game.

I hear what you all are saying, but for us out of staters, ppv would be a God send. I've often wondered if A&M had its own station, but better than AUA, and the games were televised and Bill Byrne could charge what he wants. Living out of state, if A&M offered the game for the same cost at it would be if you were in Kyle, I would gladly pay it. That way the money still goes to the unversity. First few games for me are going to be glued to my computer, logged on to Aggiefans radio, and listening to Dave South.

I agree that people shouldn't complain about crappy OOC games not being on PPV. But with gas prices and ticket prices the way they are, it is definitely harder for people to even make the trip from Houston or Dallas.
I have a 16 month old son that b/c of A&M athletic department policy, requires his own ticket to go to Kyle Field. So, at $50/ticket, it would cost my wife and I $150 in ticktets, plus $50 in gas to go watch us beat up on a D-1AA school. I can make an arguement either way of it that is worth it or not.

Ticket prices are higher plus the cost of gas plus the cost of food. I'm going to guess if you went to a game all by yourself being from within in 3-4 hrs (to get the dallas people). One ticket to the Citadel will cost you $67.00 plus probably 2 tanks of gas at around $50-60~$110 plus food for a couple of days ~$80. I would've just spent ~$257 versus $40 to stay at home and be with friends that can split it up and make it like $5 a person.

I'm sure almost anyone who would buy the games on PPV would absolutely prefer to be at the games in person. But the financial concerns are getting more and more substantial so that many people will have to think about spending the $ on tickets, gas, food, and lodging.
Also, time of driving to the games is a big concern. It would be nice if I had time to make it to every game, but that is just not the case, nor will it be until I'm able to retire in like 100 years. Also, with the difficulty of finding a hotel room on gamedays, and the 6 hours of driving plus game time, it makes for a very long day...especially after a long week at the office.
I don't know anything about tv deals or what the school gets out of a PPV contract, but I would think they get at least something. And I can absolutely say that I would buy the game when I couldn't make it to the game, so the school would be getting at least something from me as opposed to the $0 they get from me listening to it online or on the radio.
It's one thing to complain about people in B/CS not going to the games (ignoring financial concerns of the ever increasing ticket prices), but it's ignorant to assume that former students can all make it to the games in person.

I'd buy the PPV and tivo it while at the game. Then I'd come home and watch it every night til the next week.

now that's a good idea
again for the record, i'm not against PPV in general, just not as an alternative to getting fans to the game who have no other reason to stay at home and watch other than the fact they are lazy and not good fans. when those people are complaining about no PPV, there is a small problem.

I bet if we went 10 - 2 last year we wouldn't even be talking about this. It's just a shame that when the team really needs the 12 Man people find ways not to attend games. Fran blows, weak teams in occ, to young on defence, Darnell won't get it done, ticket prices to high, ect..... Just show up and support the team and your school.
