View Full Version : Aggiefans - 12th Man Foundation Pledge/Donation

I had an idea today, sort of inspired by Baylor fans at Baylorfans.com (last year). Basically, they started a pledge donation where they would donate $x per Baylor win.
My thinking was this, we start a pledge drive where we find a value for which we agree to donate x amounts of dollars or cents.
It could be for every TD scored. It could be for every win. It could be for every point we win by....I'm open to suggestions.
My thinking though was that we could do it as a site and we would collect it all. At the end of the year, we'd donate a majority of (maybe 75% to the 12th Man Foundation) and 20% would go to the site. That way it mainly benefits A&M (but does help the site some).
Does this sound like a decent idea...anybody interested? It's strictly voluntary, and you could reneg on your pledges -- nobody's twisting your arms -- but would anybody be up for it? If so, what criteria?
If not, tell me why it's a bad idea. ;) Just talk.

sounds like a good idea to me. i really can't think of any criteria. what ballpark figure would be an amount that the average person would contribute? if we could ball park that we could determine what pts/td/etc. to base it on so that the amount per each is not extremely low and hard to keep up with.
prolly could use your paypal thing to collect the $. or maybe you could do 1 for first x # of games and 1 for second x # of games that way if someone only wanted to participate in half the season they could. and you could just add it up at end of season and donate all at once.
just some ideas to chew on.

In terms of raising the most money -- it would probably be by TD. I think easiest to track and most logical would be per win (and probably the best anyways for everybody -- gives us all one single goal to root for).
I would say a reasonable pledge would be $5-10/win. Say we get 20 members to do $5/win, this would be the result:
If:
A&M Goes 9-3 (which is the common prediction)
20x5x9=$900
$675 to 12th Man Foundation
$225 to Aggiefans.com
The idea though is that you pledge on what you can. If you can't afford that, even $1 is cool. If you're burning holes in your pockets, then do $10 or more/win.
It's all individual - and you can do it at anytime (or quit at anytime).
Like I said above, it's strictly voluntary and if it gets to be too expensive or your life circumstances change, you don't have to give the money. I won't make a big production or call you out or guilt you. This is all voluntary at all times (I can't say that enough). I just thought it would be a cool way to get us all together and actually contribute to the school that brought us all together on this site.
You can count me and Mrs. Vlyrock in...we're good for $5/each per win.
Heck, if you want to do it, let's do it. Just add your name to the list and pledge it. If you want to go anonymous, shoot me a PM. I'll put ??? - $1,000/win or whatever you pledge (ie, hide it).

I'm pretty broke most of the time, but Aggie Athletics and AggieFans.com are two things I'd love to see grow.
Put me down for $1/win.

I'm in for the fun of it although I'm in mainly to support the site. I already give a fairly generous gift to the 12th man foundation every year (and I'm not even a season ticket holder anymore.)
I'll go either $4.00/win or $1.00/TD or FG.... whatever you want.

Maybe instead, we could all sit around drinking beer, while we watch dre wash cars for $5-$10 bucks a car. When she starts to get tired, we would just open some more beers and cheer her on to lift her car washing spirits.

Vly,
Put me down for $17 a game for my man #17 Tydrick Riley. I think I've told all of you this before, but Riley worked with me over the past summer and he is an impressive young man. I hated to lose him because of 2-a-days. He's a super, super kid, the leader A&M needs this year.

I'm for it too....but this is something we can do to pass the time while we wait for Dre's swimsuit to come in (special order).
We're up to $50/win. Others feel free to jump in if you want to pledge as well. :)
