guess it's the media but ND is at #2 and only 2 of the 9 teams they beat last year had winning records and 1 of those wins was navy.

i think ohio state will still be #1 after they visit t.u.

i'm curious to see how that t.tech and tcu game turns out.

well they do have tons of talent on both sides of the ball, let's wait and see how the qb turns out...they definitely have a couple of rb's to carry to load and some pretty darn good lines.

that being said, i freakin' hate sips. :D

The sips will be interesting this year. They lost some key players on defense, but still have a lot of returning starters and have very talented replacements. I'm still one of those that thinks Vince Young was overhyped, but that being said it can't be good to stick a true freshman out there. While the passing game should be about the same (Limas Sweed is amazing), that dual threat is gone now. I think the sips should start as a top 10 team, but should finish in the 11-25 range with a 9-3 record.

I really think OSU is overrated (Sorry, BuckeyeChuck). Their offense is spectacular, but they lost nearly everybody on defense. I expect a lot of growing pains for them this season, with possible slip-ups against 1 or 2 of the middle-of-the pack Big 10 teams.

Notre Dame was good last year, and they're keeping averybody. However, unless their pass defense improves, they won't make it to the BCS title game. As far as the stat about on 2 of the 9 wins being against winning teams, they beat some great programs that had 5-6 seasons. Pitt, Washington, BYU, Purdue and Tennesee may have had losing seasons last year, but they are no cupcakes. Also keep in mind that they lost to the referees in a game against #1 USC. This year ND has an easier schedule(though still very tough), so they are certainly contenders.

I think Auburn will be excellent this year, but it's almost impossible to escape a season in the SEC undefeated. They have to beat Arkansas, Florida, LSU and Georgia at home, as well as Alabama on the road.

West Virginia should be a top 10 team for at least the next 2 seasons. They were very good last year with a ton of freshmen starting. They shocked Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and finished with an 11-1 record (only loss was to a very good Virginia Tech team). Their schedule should set them up nicely for a title run. If they can beat Pitt and Louisville on the road, they will be undefeated heading into bowl season.

USC lost a TON of players. They are reloading at nearly every position. Luckily for them, they are filling these holes with blue-chips. I expect them to win the Pac-10 this year, and then be back in the MNC picture in 2007.

They'll lose 2 out of 4 between tOSU, OU, A&M and Tech, plus one suprise loss.

And you got how many?

Seriously, c'mon. Vince was a great player, and carried our team in a couple of games. But do the math. We return 7 starters on each side of the ball, and ran 2 deep at almost every position last year. tOSU can't boast that, nor can USC, ND, etc. Vince didn't make the last stop on LenDale last year either.

And, you have Loftin who thinks Vince was overrated, yet talks about any freshman QB that supposedly can't do anything, but most Ags think McGee (who was a frosh last year need I remind you) is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Somebody, anybody, remind me how many games he has won yet?

I think this is the most wide open year college football has had in a long while. So I'm not surprised TU got 8 first place votes, they have to go somewhere.

Okay you all can ban me now!:D For those saying they can't believe the sips got 8 votes. I can't believe we got any votes for the top 25, Why? Yes I love my Aggies and yes I think we will have a good season and be top 25 when it is all said and done; however, I'm a realist. We were 5-6 last year. Our QB has played a game and half, albeit a damn good game and a half, our defense has alot to prove, ALOT to prove. Man I'm an Aggie to the core but where did those 10 votes come from, what is the justification. Discount the cream puffs because we will get zero credit for those, so how are they getting that we are top 25 material.:)

Because just about every major D-1 program will get at least a few votes.

Because just about every major D-1 program will get at least a few votes.

Nail hit directly on the head!:D For every D1 program the local media is good for a few votes. Didn't the Vols have a losing record last year but this year they are in the top 25:huh: . The Michigans, Texas A&M, Oregon's etc will always get some votes no matter what kind of year they've had. So let the sips get their votes, hell at least they didn't something last year. Damn it, I'm ready for some football.
