I'm looking at ways to increase membership (and revenue) for the site so we can continue to grow things here. One thing I'm considering is partnering with a magazine as a "gift" for subscribing. My thought is to start with the fan subscription (for a year) and up...It won't be awarded for the monthly memberships mainly because I could lose money on the deal if you quit early. One magazine I'm eyeing is The Sporting News. The question is:Would you be more willing to become a paying member (at the fan level or higher) if you were also given a subscription to The Sporting News? Thanks,Vlyrock

well vly is eyeing the sporting news mag mainly because they give a reduced rate (and he cant have it cost more than the base level sub) which is why it wouldnt be avaliable to the student supporter level and like he said only avaliable to those that prepay for the year (so they cant do it for one month to get the free sub)

also related to this are there any other magazines we should look at that people would want to see.... some of the smaller ones namely as the bigger ones like si will probably be too expensive.

I allready have lifetime subs to SI & ESPN the Mag, so that wouldn't help me any way. I don't know what you consider "inexpensive" but for guys I would think either another sports mag, Maxim, or Stuff would all be pretty cool.

he wants to keep it sports related though... unless there is alot of want for the maxim/stuff subs. i dont know how much they are either though. but that might be a cool idea give a choice of 2 or 3 mags and that way people can choose.

Sounds like a good idea. How about a subscription to Juggs Magazine? Or better yet, Vly could publish his own magainze and call it "Side Boob Magazine."

actually maxim/stuff will probably be avaliable... we are looking at using amazon.

give us a list of ones you would like to see... we are looking at the mags around $15-$20 range.

*disclaimer* depending on some factors not all of the suggestions will make the list... we are just looking for some ideas right now.

Ignore my vote; I thought it said no matter what I will be a paying member. I just got in from Port A so the sun has drained my brain cells.
