I'm going to houston on Monday for a week, haven't been back home in over two years. Can't wait to eat some good mexican food for once and of course Whataburger. :gig:

I'd add Taco-C and pickled onions from Bill Millers to the list

Casa Ole. If I go two weeks without eating there, I get irritable.

Man....y'all have some horrible taste in Mexican food. You've gotta find you a hole in the wall place that serves real Mexican food, not all that chain **** that everyone else is talking about. And if you're in Houston for a week, you have to make a trip up to CS & go have a cold Lone Star on the back porch at the Chicken--not that its good beer, but its just a must when you've been gone for a while & finally get back.

Does anyone know where in Houston you can get good baja Mexican food (fish tacos, etc.)?

There's a couple of Berryhill's nearby and those actually aren't bad for that kind of quasi-fast food stuff, but I'd like to find something better.

I don't know of any place in H-town, Cali, but there is a great place in CS. :D

Lopez in Houston has the best Mexican food.

Good food, good price, and i've gotten autos from bags, biggio, and barkley in my times there

Lupe tortillas is expensive mexican food. I laugh at people who buy expensive mexican food. Sorry but your wasting your money. I had a boss take us there while I had an internship in houston once. It is good, but no way I pay what they ask for it.

Sadly very few baja mexican. I know i had a gf who was from Kingwood and I remember driving by a restaurant named Baja Run, that she said was mexican. Never tried it so I can't say if it's good.

The fish tacos at Fogerty's are really good, but that's in Key West.

There's a great place in LA called Wahoos. I used to go there all the time. There's one now in Austin and I'm hoping they'll spread here to Houston. Good grilled fish tacos.

It'd be nice if we could get a Rubios or a La Salsa, too.

Damn you, I'm jealous. I miss TX.

1. Good mexican food, Pinche is right, not the chain restraunts, the good stuff.

2. Whataburger!! with cheese!

3. Luby's, the macaroni and cheese!

4. Gotta have some chicken fried steak and brisket, they don't even know what that is up here.

Polish, once you get into the working class, you will appreciate good mexican food and they are no more expensive than say Pappasitos. I think I was saying the same thing though when I was in college since my only concern was making sure I had enough money to go to the Flying Tomato, the Chicken, D&D, any beer store, McDonalds (which was the only place that took Aggie Bucks back then), etc. Besides, Lupe's fajitas are awesome. I haven't eaten at Case NoWay since the early 1990s and I never really liked Ninfa's that much.

Oh and Dustin, Lupe's just became a "chain" if you want to call them that. Just in the past 3-4 years did they open up the stores throughout Houston (I think there are 6 stores total in Houston now). The original is still the best out in Addicks (Hwy 6 and the Katy Freeway), which just happens to be only a few miles from my house.
