My cousin-in-law is a corporate lawyer (or at least used to do corporate) and is a partner in his firm. He's in Houston.

I have no clue. Their website is http://www.cothamharwellevans.com/ Don't have a clue if that helps but you at least can look at the firm and such.

You will not find a GC spot or an assistant GC spot straight out of law school without some experience unless you already know someone. Your MBA will help you get in the door, but not that far in the door.

There's a website (I have the link if you're interested) that is probably the most comprehensive corporate law job search database online. You can post your resume for people to look at and get back to you or you can send your resume to firms that have posted job openings on there. This is the website that all head hunters use).

I think you're going to find for an in-house position they're all going to be looking for several years experience at least even for a position that reports to an assistant GC.

As for firms in Texas, my sense is that hiring is not strong right now. But it depends on where you want to go.

No problem. I have others if you're interested. I was just looking for a job in Texas 6 months ago, so I have some resources. I went with a headhunter but did my own searching in-house.

I wasn't meaning to be overly pessimistic about your chances, btw, just thought I'd tell you that since people start to wonder if it's them in particular that can't get in the door. . .it's not. The in-house job market is very tight.

Two more links are vault.com and infirmation.com.

On infirmation.com click on greedy associates, then careers and salaries. Or just browse around. Findlaw.com and law.com might also have stuff, but I'm not as sure.

By the way, I just saw that you're looking in San Antonio. There's basically only one large hometown San Antonio firm. You might check there.

My sense is that San Antonio doesn't have a lot of great corporate work because it's really not much of a corporate town. More of a service market. You'd do much, much better in Dallas or Houston. Hiring right now is far better in both cities than San Antonio or Austin. Too many people want to live in central Texas and there's just not enough to do.
