View Full Version : How many HR will Pujos hit?

As Pujos hit his 9th homerun this year and his fourth in consecutive abats, I was wondering how many will he end up with by the time he retires. At 26, he already has 210 and has averaged 40 HR in his first five full seasons. The last two players that were considered threats to Aaron at a young age were Griffey who averaged only 26 HR his first five seasons and A-Rod, who averaged 37 HR. If Pujos continues at the pace he is at and plays until he is 40, that will give him over 800 HR, and that is just at a 40 HR/season pace. There is no question that he will have his share of 50+ seasons and will probably do it this year. I think A-Rod has a shot at breaking Aaron's record (or bonds) but I think Pujos could shatter it and bearing any big injuries, I don't think 900 would be out of the question.

Well he could very well do it. But like you said he is going to have to stay injury free. I don't think he can always keep this pace up...to average 40 HR per year is pretty amazing.

The scary part is that he gets better every year. He may well average 50 HR over the next 5 years and he will still only be 30 years old. I think he is the best young hitter to come into the majors in a very very long time.

I agree Pujols is bar none the best hitter in the game. Ortiz is second.

Keep in mind that Jonny Gomes, Chris Shelton, and Nick Swisher are all on pace for 73 HRs.
