It's all part of the rivalry.

As for the name "t.u.", it was the original name they called themselves, and we stick by it. Also, the name "University of Texas" implies certain things we do not like, such as being the first or the best university in Texas, when we all know that's not true. Also, when they add a "the" in front of it, it displays that certain arrogance they are known for.

"Aggy" is an insult they use on us. They misspell our name and always use it in the singular form as if all Aggies have one mind.

No I am not an aggie...never said I was...since this was an aggie board I thought I'd use the we...sorry it offended you. In regard to UT...they were the first university...in fact, when A&M opened in 1876 is was as a part of the University of Texas...UT was created by the Republic of Texas by order in 1839. The actual first university chartered by the Republic of Texas that is in existence today is Baylor.

I guess my thinking is that calling it tu sounds unintelligent just as apelling aggy would be. My UT friends do not hate A&M..in fact, they say that the rivalry is quite one sided...they hate OU.

Hate to tell you this big boy, but study your history. The Repub of Texas created the University of Texas in 1839...although it did not open until 1881. When A&m opened up in 1876, it was as a branch of the Univ of Texas. Learn your history!
