Loftin's impression of the game:
-Too many penalties. Very sloppy in that regard from both sides of the ball and on special teams. This is something that you expect in spring practice, but I thought that the final scrimmage should look a little more polished.
-Our QBs all have a tendency to run with the ball. The option was called a few times, but a lot of those yards were scrambling.
-The passing was very impressive. McGee was 4-4, McCoy was 6-7 and Branyon was 7-12. Crisp spirals, but not bullets like Reggie used to throw. I like all three of them when they are forced to throw on the run, especially McCoy.
-Jamie McCoy reminds me a lot of Reggie in the way he stands, throws and runs. He looked very focused when under pressure.
-Our D-Line is awesome. We seriously have 8-10 guys who can get the job done down there. Michael Bennett in particular is a beast.
-The TE's were featured more in the passing game than I've seen in the past. As deep as we are down there, that's what I like to see. Bennett is a superstar, but Gbunblee and Thomas are big and very capable of contributing a lot.
-Our WR corps is extremely deep, if all these guys can stay healthy, watch out. I think that injuries at the WR position probablly cost us at least one game last season.
-Our kickoff and punt coverage is still very weak. I really hope Fran and Tommerdahl put a lot of work into fixing it by the fall. Special Teams killed us last year.
-Whether it's Bean or Neuman, I don't care. I just want a solid kicker. The kickoffs were in the endzone and they were 3-3 on FG's. That's relieving since Pegram is gone.
-Jorvorskie Lane looked very strong. The refs would sometimes blow a whistle early to protect a ball carrier, but there was one play that Lane mowed over 3 people(each one helmut-to-helmut) and the refs blew the whistle to protect the defenders. Two of those defenders he hit were on the ground pretty late after the play was over. This guy is an absolute beast, and by far the most exciting player on the team.
-Our offense is strong, but the defense wasn't putting up a good enough fight IMO. I don't think I've seen significant enough improvement on that side of the field.
-Matt Featherston and Mark Dodge didn't make any spectacular plays, but they somehow found their way to the ball a lot. It seemed like on almost every play you'd hear one of their names. Both remind me of Jaxson Appel in that regard.

Loftin I think the McCoy/McNeal comarison is very valid running the ball, especially on the option
Actually all in all I concur with most of your impressions
