Ride 2nd Half Defense To Win
If you're a fan of Fightin' Texas A&M Aggie Basketball, then you're a fan of hard-nosed defense. On a day when the scoring centerpiece of the A&M offense disappeared (Joseph Jones finished with 6 points), it was the Texas A&M defense that won the Aggies their first conference-opening win in 10 years.

A&M trailed 34-25, thanks to a 3 pointer at the buzzer by freshman Josh Carter. The first half could've been worse. A&M fell behind early, trailing 18-6 with 8:00 to go in the first half. The Aggies shot 31% in the first half, compared to 61% by the Red Raiders. A&M, the Big XII leader in free-throws attempted and fouls, managed to only get to the line 10 times. They held true to form though in the fouls department, Joseph Jones and Dominique Kirk both fould out with 2:00 to go in the game. The Aggies finished with 26 in the game.

Even with the half-time deficit, A&M came out determined to play in the second half. Tech only scored 2 field goals in the first 15:00 minutes of the 2nd half in the face of stifling defense by A&M. The stifling defense added with the hot shooting hand of Acie Law IV sparked the second half route. Law erupted with big shot after big shot, and Tech never really threatened the A&M lead after the Ags led 50-46. A&M outscored Tech 38-21 in the second half.
