It takes half a freakin year to save once done. I hit refresh and that works faster. Just FYI.

well i just tried with ie and its an IE issue.. firefox works perfectly fine. Not sure what is exactly causing IE to screw up....
dre1222
01-01-2006, 11:16 PM
Then maybe you should figure it out.
jagowar
01-01-2006, 11:22 PM
well theres no telling what it could even be.... did it work yesterday or has it been an issue before that? Its possible it could be one of the hacks I put on last night.

It's always been slow. I usually have to press save a couple of times.
dre1222

It's always been an issue. But I'm heavily buzzed and pissed, so I'm commenting on everything.
jagowar
01-01-2006, 11:25 PM
ok... i know what the issue is (more or less). Its not doing the background refresh automatically for you (it does in firefox). Its probably a template issue (vly still hasnt ported over the new template... theres quite a few features missing)

and i have confirmed it.... a template issue (and something vly will have to fix as he does the template stuff)
In the admin section we have reverted a test one back to defaults and ie can quickly do edits....

ok for you ie users.... i more or less finished a new template theme (that was reverted from the orig one). Everything should work fine in IE and now with the "rate this thread" feature.
You will need to set the new theme in your usercp section....
http://www.aggiefans.com/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions
the last section in that page should have a select theme.... the "aggiefans_default" is the new one.
Vlyrock

Jag, I don't think that's ready for public unveiling...put it on and go to the main page index (aggiefans.com) -- it kills it.

what doesnt work? Being able to select the new theme (and it will look a bit different, if it doesnt look different from the current theme you are not using the new one). Or does the quick reply not work with the new one? I checked it on my IE and it works perfectly fine.

There are a lot of red X's on the front page when I switch over to the new theme. i.e. - I can't see these http://www.aggiefans.com/forums/images/buttons/collapse_tcat.gif or these http://www.aggiefans.com/forums/images/buttons/lastpost.gif

yeah i know... dont know why that doent work both ways (it should), it might be because there are only 2 themes.
And the icons should all be fixed now.... and i know the advanced reply looks like crap (im still trying to find where that color is being set)

01-04-2006, 08:45 AM
its supposed to be.... i made some modifications. (what specifically did you not like about it). This one is going to eventually take over for the real default one (since it was built from the new 3.5 templates... fixes alot of the posting issues). So if you dont like the look of something tell me now.
TwelfthAG
01-04-2006, 08:45 AM
What's different, I can't tell.
administrator
01-04-2006, 08:49 AM
1. Its wider (takes more of the page than default.... this was done to make it appear more consistent at the bottom where that bottom bar is wider on the current default than the rest of the boards)
2. Link hovers are the lighter maroon (no tan on tan where the link would dissappear)
3. The divider between forums/threads is maroon now too (used to be a purple)
4. Made the second col color white vs the purple (the purple is still being used in quick reply background for a comparison)
Im sure there are more Im forgetting about.... and I will get to fixing the advanced reply, trying to figure out where its hiding because its not part of the default color settings.

01-04-2006, 08:51 AM
Oh, my window is small, so I didn't see that it was wider cause it was already taking up the whole screen. I agree with dre, the skinny page is better.
dre1222
01-04-2006, 08:55 AM
I think what I don't like is the white and blue. on the default it's not quite as white. As I type this, it sounds stupid, but an off white looks better. I thought maybe the font was different but it wasn't. I pulled both up and flipped screens and there wasn't a huge difference between the two.
Aggie Fans
01-04-2006, 09:00 AM
I like the off white better as well.
Aggie Fans
01-04-2006, 09:02 AM
Also, the maroon divider between forums/threads stands out too much, I think a different shade of grey would do better.

what about that? (its a 2 tone gray) for the col colors.

I took down the total witdth a bit.... and theres not much you can do to fix the width of the qucik reply... its set by the width of the site.
I also made it a bit darker.... is that any better?
Aggie Fans
01-04-2006, 09:26 AM
My criticism:
-Quick Reply is too white
-Site is still too wide and borders are too dark on forums page (makes it look like an excel sheet),

The color around the Aggifans supporter stuff is a different color than the rest of that block. And earlier when I said quick reply is too wide, I meant wide. This would be easier if I was looking over your shoulder telling you what to do.

I agree...I don't like the time on board thing....one its not an accurate number--all you have to do is open up your browser to Aggiefans & let it sit for 12 hours. Two, I don't want certain people seeing how long (especially if its an inaccurate number) I'm on here. :D

If you switch to aggiefans_default it isn't there.

you two just dont wanna see your real af "loser" times... ;) (and actually dustin it only counts time if you are active on the forums... i have verified this because i leave my ff on for atleast 12 hrs a day [even when im not there] and there is always a tab on AF but it only counts a hour or two a day)

IE he wants to be able to spread his "time" and "postcount" over 3 accounts so he doesnt keep his #1 spot on the postwhore list.
