Redick missed back to back free throws in Duke's game tonight. That makes it the first time in his college career that happened. WOW.

Ironically enough, it was the first 2 of 3 FTs (he made the 3rd one) and thus he has never come up empty after a trip to the line (I guess unless you count technicals which he might have missed before)

JJ Redick is possibly the best college basketball player I've ever seen(over Elton Brand, Carmelo Anthony, Corliss Williamson, etc.). Too bad the NBA defenders will shut him down, though.

I definately agree that there have been better players than JJ Reddick, but there is always somebody better at everything.

He is probably the best white college basketball player I have ever seen.

I could probably agree with the fact that he's the best white college player.

I don't know man...I'm not even sure that he is the best white college player from Duke. Hurley & Laettner were pretty damn dominant in college.

Redick is a good white guy, but he is no Brian Barone! You new Army folks out there probably have no idea what I am talking about.

Speaking of Brian Barone, I just googled his name and found out that he is an assistant coach at Illinois State. He has been there for three years.

Honestly, in COLLEGE basketball, what player has been better?

You could make a case for these players:
Elton Brand
Danny Manning
Carmelo Anthony
Corliss Williamson
Emeka Okafor
Antawn Jamison
Christian Laettner
Grant Hill
Shane Battier
Glenn Robinson
Chris Webber
Shaquille O'Neal

However, I honestly haven't seen a college player really play as well as JJ Redick. I think he'll be an NBA bust(like fellow Dukie Mike Dunleavy), as a college player, I can't remember anyone being better.

I'm too young to remember Michael Jordan, Oscar Robinson or Lew Alcinder as college players, but in my memory, JJ dominates the college game best.

If anyone has the time, we should have a poll for this.

Honestly I think Redick has a better shot than anyone listed above and thats why he is the best college player I've seen. The kid can drain any shot at any time. Some of the players above were good, but Redick is just pure talent. He can definitely score at will much more than any of the others (save shaq, but he really sealed his legacy at the NBA level).

Wrong!!! He can't drain a shot at anytime. He has to have someone set a pick for him to get a shot. Unlike a lot of guys who can penetrate into the lane, JJ has to have a little help in order to score. Its not like you are going to see JJ break someone down & take'em to the hole. Like I said earlier, if you are talking about white guys, give me Hurley or Laettner, but if you are just talking about anyone you definitely have to put Iverson above him.

He can drain any shot at any time, he just can't penetrate himself. I've just been talking about his shot, not his ability to CREATE shots by dribbling ppl dizzy. Yeah he always has to run off screens, but thats what makes his job tougher and more amazing to me, every game is a fight and he has to run more than anyone on the court. Also he is a 2G, not a PG so penetrating doesn't matter much. You going to say Shaq isn't one of the best bball players ever cuz he can't shoot the 3?

Iverson has very good ball skills and penetrating skills, and is one of the most exciting players. But his shot is about as good as mine. Yeah thats right. Iverson goes 10-40 every night from the field. Its gross.

In college, Iverson was absolutely unstoppable.

And if you want to say that Redick has one of the best shots you've ever seen in the college game, then I'll give you that, but to say that he is the best college player you've ever seen is going way overboard.

I don't see many from the phi slama jama being mentioned.

Because there were several of them. Hakeem Olajuwon, in the NBA, is the 2nd best basketball player of all time IMO.
