Artest Slams Magic Johnson

Not sure if you guys have heard this story, but you have to check out what Ron Artest said in an interview about Magic Johnson. This was in response to Magic saying that Artest did not deserve a 2nd chance in the NBA.

Whether or not you like Artest, this has to be one of the greatest comebacks ever.

Artest said some of the criticism he has received has been unfair. Former NBA great Magic Johnson said Artest doesn't deserve a second chance in the NBA.


"It's like saying, 'Magic, should your wife give you another chance?'" Artest said "He's saying Ron Artest should have no more second chances. What's worse -- me saying I want to be traded or you cheating on your wife?"

Maybe Magic better think twice next time about saying someone doesn't deserve a second chance.

Seems like a low-blow to me. I seldom agree with Jim Rome, but I like his commentary on this situation:


Stop comparing adultery to basketball. We aren't comparing apples to apples here.

I disagree. While you cannot compare adultery to basketball, what Magic did was way worse in my book then what Artest did. So, Artest was completely justified for saying what he did.

Artest is just saying that magic can't judge him because of his "unloyal" actions because he engaged in some unloyal actions himself. It would be different if he made the comeback after magic dissed his jumpshot. That would seem totally uncalled for and out of the blue.
