I really like this quote out of the a DMN, especially the last part
While Aggies fans may be disappointed, Rivals.com national recruiting editor Jeremy Crabtree said there is time for the school to rebound in a good year for blue-chip recruits.
A&M just hired a new defensive coordinator, former Texas assistant coach Gary Darnell. Not to mention Texas is all but done with 25 oral commitments and Texas Tech is almost done with 23 commitments.
"If A&M can get an Anthony Lewis or a Michael Goodson or another guy here or there, then suddenly things look a lot better," Crabtree said. "There's another month until signing day. Coach [Dennis Franchione] is going to get his defensive staff in line, and they will hit the ground running."
Carrollton Creekview defensive end Jeremy Beal, who took an official visit to OU this weekend, is another recruit whose stock is on the rise. Beal, no. 87 on SportsDay's Area Top 100, has also made official visits to Alabama, Arkansas, and Duke.
Morgan, who will visit A&M next month, said he's suprised that A&M hasn't hauled in a top 20 recruit. Texas has eight top 20 oral commitments and Oklahoma has one. Texas currently has the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in the country, according to Rivals.com. Oklahoma is No. 10 and Texas Tech is No. 20. A&M is No. 26.
"I guess people haven't seen what's really going on down there, " Morgan said. "They Look at what's going on last year and the last two years and see all the losing, and they're just not interested in them.
"The truth is they are a good team, and they're just a few players short, " Morgan said. " You saw how they played Texas in that game."
