Looks like duke was still on their minds because they flat out got embarassed today. tennessee played really well today though. but they still were shooting wide open shots all day long. (unless the sips pull some sort of allworld comeback)
87 - 71 with 1:30 left.
gibson went down with a concussion somewhere.... nobody really saw anything about where he actually got it.

final 95-78
and the scary part is the score should have been worse than it was.

Well...guess that validates all I've been saying from the beginning of the first polls (and what most of us said) was that Texas was not worthy of the #2 spot. I think they have a decent team and should be Top 25, but coming off of the year they had, they should not have started at #2.

exactly. AMEN. we could probably find a million threads where most of us said that ppl were smoking crack to have them at number 2.

I would like to take credit as the boldest and loudest supporter of the "Texas is not even the #2 team in the Big XII" position from the very beginning. However, A&M's last couple of wins were less than stellar. Most teams beat Savannah State by a lot more than we did.

I'd like to take credit for being the first poster to bring it up. :)

We don't know anything about where we stand compared to you guys right now. I think we unquestionably have the best talent in the big 12, but there's no getting around the fact that it is playing very poorly right now.
The one thing that gives me hope that this is temporary is that right now the team just looks lost and the main killer is turnovers.
It doesn't look to me like we're getting beat for lack of talent. It's more mental than anything.
We've got two more tough OOC games that at this point I would assume would be losses unless we really get it together.

Yeah, I agree...you guys are still Top 25 and we're not implying you guys suck and we're better...but the #2 ranking early wasn't really founded on anything substantial. Luckily for you guys, this is all "pre-season" and the games that really matter (conference) haven't started yet.

The number two ranking was based on the number of McDonald's all-americans we have. (Which is usually an amzingly good indicator of what kind of team you have, but not with us).
What is really disturbing about the loss yesterday is that the Duke game wasn't any kind of wake-up call at all. All I've seen is highlights, but we still are just unbelievable loose with the ball and as a result, turn it over constantly.
We had stretches of last season where we had that problem, but I've seen Gibson and our guys play more careful with the ball, so it has to be mental.
We need to take practices for the next two games and just practice the fundamentals of good crisp passing and careful ball handling.
