MarylandAg has done an awesome thing and volunteered to donate a $25 money order to whoever can get the Kentucky Derby prediction the closest. It's free, so even if you know nothing about horse racing, put in a guess - you may get lucky!

You must select 4 horses. Win, Place, Show (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) with a 4th place finisher as your tie-breaker. If you should end up tied with somebody after the first 3 horses, whoever's 4th horse finishes better in the field will win. If both players are tied and have select the same 4th place horse, a tie-breaker will be determined later (probably selecting a stat or score in an upcoming Aggie Athletic event).

Use this thread only to post your 4 horses. Discuss your picks or make fun of someone else's on another thread. You may not edit your selections after you post them. If you wish to change a selection, pm me and I will update it for you. If it says - "edited by your username" your selection will not be valid. All picks must be in an hour before post time. Post time is scheduled to start (I'll put it whenever we find out :D ).

The point system is as follows:
25 points for correct Winner (1st)
15 points for correct Place (2nd)
5 points for correct Show (3rd)

There is a 10 point bonus for getting consecutive horses right (1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd)

Most points wins, tiebreakers are settled as per above.

The odds and horses are posted below.

Good Luck and Thanks Again MarylandAg

ttt, for you last minutes visitors. Take a guess, you don't even have to watch the race, just check later tonight or tomorrow and if you win, heck you'll have bragging rights. :p (sorry for the bump vly, just wanted to give the last minute crowd a shot)

Figures...a visiting OSU fan wins it. Check your PM's StructuralPoke, it gives you instructions on how to get your money order.

Maryland, thanks for volunteering to do it. Have you sent the money order?

Damn, well the curse continues favorites never win. Bandini at 19th, wow. Congrats Structural. Vly I put it in the mail today around midday, you should get it around Wednesday, I'm guessing. This was alot of fun. See what I mean, if someone would have said that is a cool name, you just never know. :p

Yes, I thought that was a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone for the participation. Again, congrats to Structural, enjoy :D . I have to say I was pulling hard for Afleet Alex down the stretch. I think when he got boxed in, he spent to much energy and just ran out of gas. Again this was alot of fun. :D

I win with only getting the 3rd place horse right? So much for picking the favorites I guess.

Keep the money order Vly -- keep the site running...

Thanks structural for the gesture.

I'm going to be using the money order to add chat software to the site. It'll cover about 1/3 of the cost. Look for it in about 2 weeks. It probably won't be too great until football season rolls around considering there's usually only 5-10 people online at a time right now.

It will be free to all users until September 1. That's when it will be reserved for subscription members as noted in the subscription descriptions.

I'm also giving Structural subcription membership starting in August for 2 months. He won the contest and should get something.
