I know its way too early for these to hold any water, but they are still fun to discuss. Regardless, its good to see the Ags getting mentioned. Bracketology.com has us as a #9 seed playing Ohio State in the Duke bracket. But, they also have Texas as a #1. It was obviously last updated before t.u. got their asses handed to them.

We would lose a first round game to Ohio State. However, that would still be a great step forward for our program.

I think it is way too early to say where will will be, who we would lose to, etc. Ask me next month and maybe I'll have a different opinion.

Being a #15 seed will be a great step in the right direction -- just getting in the tournament would be huge for Aggie Basketball.

If A&M makes the tourney, we'll be a #10 seed minimum. The 11-16 range is for small conference automatic bids.

No it wouldn't because that would mean the Big XII kicked us out of the conference. I believe the lowest we can be a a major conference is 12 or 13

If A&M got into the tournarment, we would be one of those lower seeds that nobody wanted to play and could spring an upset or two. I could see A&M getting to the sweet sixteen if everything fell into place for the aggies with the "right" matchups. If we ended up in dallas for the first two rounds then we would have a chance to win a couple of games. But if we played duke in north carolina like the bracketology shows, then we would lose by thirty points.

My point wasn't that we could (through possible results) be a #15 seed, I just meant, making the tourney at all would be huge.

Also though, I am retarded and didn't realize that major conferences couldn't be ranked lower than a certain seed....

Get in somewhere as a 6 or 11 seed and I think we would be in the most advantagous position to reach the Sweet 16. I would hate to be an 8/9 seed.

Well, now we're not in the Top 64 even though we have 9 votes for Top 25...and only 1 loss...

That just shows you how these things mean nothing this early.

Here is a quote from bracketology.com about us. The only thing that bugs me about this is that they are claiming that Billy G did the scheduling for us. That is not true. He has said publicly that he does not like the cupcake schedule.

For the second year in a row, Texas A&M head coach Billy Gillispie has scheduled a cupcake non-conference schedule. In Gillispie’s first year leading the Aggies, A&M racked up 11 victories before losing their first game at Kansas. Second verse: same as the first. Again A&M played 10 cupcake teams at home to open the season, winning all of them in fine fashion before falling at Pacific by seven. Last year the formula was enough to get the Aggies into the NIT, but this year's team is without last year's star, Antoine Wright. Wright, a first-round NBA Draft pick, led the team with 17.8 ppg. This year the Aggies are led by sophomore Joseph Jones and junior Acie Law with 16.6 and 14 ppg, respectively. Gillispie is trying to continue the remarkable turn-around he began last year at A&M. Look for Texas A&M to be one of the nation's most talked-about bubble teams in March, thanks to the Aggies' pathetic non-conference SOS (328).

Playing Pacific, Auburn, and Penn State is still an improvement from last year....and if it gets us into March, then more power to us. Like getting crushed by Duke, North Carolina, or Lousville would've helped us any come March... stupid writer...

Loftin, I figure the last Big 12 team in could be as low as a 12 seed. I don't think 10 is as low as it goes, but I don't think it goes any lower than 12. There are 65 teams make it and what, 15 or 14 auto bids?

If I'm working that out right we could easily see a major conference have an entrant slip to no. 12.

Yall's game against oSu is huge. I think you'll be competing with them for a spot.

From what I can tell, your RPI right now is around 80. That means the conference season is your entrance exam for the tourney.

You don't have to play one of those teams, but leaving home more than once would have helped you guys in the RPI in a big way.

The tourney loves teams that play tough games and road games because those games are most similar to the ones you'll play when you get to the dance.

Besides, getting crushed by them might not have helped much, but you can't believe it would hurt too much either. Look at us, we lost huge to Duke and Tennessee and on the strength of other wins we're going to be fine assuming we don't fold in conference play.

Yeah, but you guys also started #2....the basketball voters are pretty biased and it would take an absolute collapse to fall out of the top 25...I mean, look at Kentucky. They were never good and hung around forever. When you start around #70+ like us, you're not getting bonus points for a blowout loss to Duke.

The way they figure the RPI, at some point, some of those easy home wins you guys have actually cost you. You've got to play tough folks away from home. Kentucky at least has done that this year.
