10:55 PM CST on Friday, December 9, 2005
By RACHEL COHEN / The Dallas Morning News

Texas A&M men's basketball starter Marlon Pompey was charged Thursday with misdemeanor theft of property valued $500-$1,500, a police spokesman said. Pompey's playing status for today's game against Grambling won't be affected, an A&M spokesman said.

On Nov. 2, College Station Police found a projector that had been reported stolen in Pompey's apartment, which he shared with two roommates. Pompey said he had bought it from a man his roommate knew.

not sure what to think on this. If he had personally stolen all of that, I'd kick him off, but if he was living with the Canadian mafioso's who steal parking passes and purses then i would just punish him. The projector i can kinda see if he bought it off eBay or something, but to buy it from a "friend's friend" Marlon had to know that **** was jacked

I don't think Marlon stole anything, because it's hard for a 6'8" man to sneak around like that. The projector he had to know was stolen. For that, I think I'd suspend him for a couple of non-conference games and forget about it. It looks to me like he just needs some different roommates.

Sounds to me like he cooperated, therefore probation is the most likely outcome. Tough lesson learned, nothing more.
