good read, and very true. there needs to be more advertising, emails, and other stuff to get the students pumped up. I barely hear about games and I'm on this board and skimming through texags all the time!

I sit front row at every home game, except when the time on the ticket is not the same as the actual time. That is the game I missed.

My worse fear is that Gillispie will leave and lack of support will be the only reason. I drove 24 hrs, left a day early from work just so I could get a chance to see them play Mississippi Valley State, I drove into College Station and into the Reed parking lot 30 minutes before tipoff, having slept only 4 hrs. Was it worth it, HELL YES! I saw a well coached team, an enthusiasitc coach who exudes passion for the game, and a team that directly reflects the personality of their coach. I really thought that if the product was better on the court, the fans would show up, sadly they have not. I can understand that some of the opponents aren't the best, but I'm willing to bet that if Duke was playing Southern, Cameron Arena would be full. The attendance issue is a hot topic in basketball circles, and if I typed this on some of the other boards I would probably get blasted, but it is best to be realistic, it is a real possibility that in a few years BCG will grow tired of the 5000 fans for non conference games. That will be a sad day, because the man has proven he is a first rate coach, top notch recruiter, and he and his staff are starting to bring in recruits the likes of which have never set foot at Texas A&M. If I lived anywhere near College Station, I would be a season ticket holder and wouldn't miss a game.

I kind of think that our attendance will get better with each game and each season at that. We just need for some reason more evidence that last year wasn't a fluke for some people and that BCG and this team are for real.

You know 005, funny you said that, because in the back of my mind I keep hoping that is one explanation. If the Aggies have another stellar season, now alot depends on how you define stellar but you get the point, I hope that next season Reed is full for all games not just conference games.

I think attendence will go way up once the spring semester starts becuase students will have spring passes, will have more time since it's the begining of classes and it'll be conference play.

That's true 06, but maybe the university needs to figure out a way to boost attendance for these games here at the end of the semester. One thing that I notice that is missing from our program and it's simply because we don't have enough national respect yet, but a lot of these teams get a number of games in tournaments where they don't play at home. I don't know, but do those attendances get counted towards anything? We all see Duke and a lot of the other big schools though fill up their home arenas when they play at the end of the semester and I just think that we just need more time on our campus for everybody to buy into the fact that mens basketball is here and here to stay
