they made a halfcourt short with 1.6 seconds left, they were down 75-74, and swished it from half court.

@Duke, it was on FSN.
The crowd went nuts, just wow. VT made a tip in with 1.0 seconds left and Duke called a TO. The VT players were jumping up and down because they thought it was all over. The refs watched a replay and set the time at 1.6 seconds. Duke had to pass it in from the baseline and Dockery caught it at midcourt. He then threw up a prayer and it went in. Before the throw in, all the VT players were locking arms and waiting to celebrate the upset of the season, and after it was over, you could see them crying. I really felt sorry for them, because they played their hearts out and would have beaten any other team in the country tonight. But, I really like Duke, and that was an exciting win.

Wow sure sounds like it was an exciting finish. Too bad for VT...taking the #1 team in the country down to the final seconds like that. But I like Duke. Anybody ever watched any of their home games? Their fans are a lot like ours...VERY vocal. I think it was their home opener...they went on something like a 20 point run and were up a lot, 33-5 or something. The opposing team finally scored another basket..and the Duke student section started clapping and cheering in a sarcastic kind of way. I thought to myself "That's something OUR students would do!!" The also do the same thing we do when their shooting free-throws...heck I wouldn't be surprised if they were the ones that started that.

Duke will not win the national championship...Too many close games against bad teams. Virgina Tech???? At Duke??? Should have been a 30 point blow out

I know we got it from them, because they were the only ones I've known to do it, and they've done it for awhile. I'm sure they started it (unless some obscure team did way back).

i heard that it was a one point lead for virginia tech on the radio so i switched it on because i had a feeling duke was going to hit a buzzer beater and after waiting 5 minutes for them to get the clock right. I saw one of the best finishes that I have ever seen in college basketball.

Yeah, nearly everything that we do at Reed is a copycat of Duke traditions, but hey, there is no one better to imitate in college basketball than Duke.
Duke will be national champions this year. The important thing is not that they were close to losing to an average Virginia Tech team(who is very comparable to Texas A&M), but that when backed into a corner they found a way to win. Also, you have to realize that college basketball is not college football, you will lose at least a game or two. If Duke doesn't win it all, then who does? Villanova? Gonzaga? Oklahoma?

UCONN will win it all
