I followed a thread on this kid on TexAgs for some time and it got pretty heated. I find it interesting that he has his own website, checkout some of the highlights. I guess we can say that pretty soon the internet and technology will start to affect recruiting, if it hasn't already. I fully expect a Tellus Webpage, if there isn't one already. LOL. :gig:

I think it's fine if he wants to put his efforts towards his own website instead of paying one of those other recruiting services to push him

Those 100's in football sure will help your GPA. :)

If it's like my high school, everyone in football gets a 100, but it doesn't count towards GPA.

This dude is a hoss. I went to a Hays game this year, and this guy ran ALL OVER everybody. Sure wish Bailiff could talk him into staying close to home. Sounds like a real genius kid though. :D

UIL rules dictate that if you're using a varsity sport as your P.E. credit that it not count towards your GPA. I can't find it in the rules right now, but I know it's there.

Yeah and that's a load of BS. Why couldn't we get that counted when we put so much damn time into football that it cut into our studying time for regular classes just so everybody could come to the game friday night.

Dude, if I'm not mistaking 810 is a qualifying score for the NCAA....and really thats all that matters.
But seeing that pic....it just screams 'roids!!

I wasn't going to exactly come out and say that Dustin, but now that you did, i'll definately agree

Well, cleary there is something fishy going on with the guy....he only has offers from UTEP & SFA. And for a 200 lb. RB he isn't exceptionally fast...4.63 40.

Well, he may not be that fast(by the way the site says 4.51-4.54 40)but he's gotta be doing something right to get 1600 yards and average over 8 yards a carry. As far as the 'roids thing goes, maybe and maybe not, some guys are just workout freaks and stay toned like that, I knew one in HS.
To respond to 005's comments on the UIL rule, it's understood that if you're doing a varsity sport as a class that you're probably going to get an A, the state of Texas does not believe that adding that into your GPA is a fair assesment of your ACADEMIC ability, I'm not saying that you didn't earn an A in that class for the effort you put forth, but it has absolutely nothing to do with academics.

Evidently, the site that everyone uses says he runs a 4.63. And I know a lot of guys that are "tone", but I wouldn't really classify that guy as being tone. I have no knowledge of whether or not the guy is on 'roids, but from seeing pics of guys that were on 'roids, I think its safe to say that he didn't get that way naturally. Feel free to disagree if you choose, but I'd be willing to bet that most people that see that pic will make the same determination. And, like I said before....the coaches must know something...he only has offers from UTEP & SFA.

guys that ripped to **** like that are usally very injury prone.

He ran a 4.63 in the open air (against the wind). In domed sessions, he ran a 4.50ish...

kjk is right, guys like that are normally very injury prone, it has to do with muscle tension and all that crap. I'm not saying he's not on 'roids, it looks like he probably is, but I'm saying it's possible he's not.

Yeah I understand what your saying. But I remember having practice till 6 sometimes 7 and then having to workout or watch film after practice. I didn't get home some nights till close to 9 o clock at times. Now who in their right mind after working their ass off all afternoon is gonna feel like doing 3 hours of homework just to wake up again and be at school early the next morning? I just think it's rediculous that as football players we sacrificed our health (yes it was voluntary and I'm not saying i wouldn't have done it and wouldn't do it again) and in some cases getting A's in classes so all those kids and alumni and anybody else can say they live in the greatest high school football state in the country. I mean what happens if the football players all over the state were like sorry we can't practice because we need to study. Then oh well I don't think we're gonna be able to play this friday b/c we couldn't get enough practice in. Then what is everybody in this state gonna do on a friday night during football season? I just don't think it's right and never will no matter what anybody says. I mean if we are doing all this other stuff why can't we get a little bit of help with the GPA during the season? I know that during offseason however we didn't get 100's in football. It was all a direct correlation to how we were performing in agility drills and the weight room and we actually had a character class that we took tests in for grades, so whatever. I know i didn't get 100's every six weeks during offseason.
oh yeah and hell yeah they need to test HS athletes. I graduated in 01 and roids are definately a huge problem in texas high school football, whether people wanna admit it or not

I was under the impression that UIL had random drug testing for HS athletes. We had it in NC when I played soccer and there isn't near the strict guidelines as there are under the UIL...strange. They should really do something, it's unfair to the guys who refuse to do that kind of stuff.
texag005
12-02-2005, 10:17 PM
Well there are certain school districts now that require random testing, but it's definately not a UIL rule yet i don't think
