1-star runningback (according to Scout.com) -- from Blinn.

If he had committed to the sips, he'd be at least a 4 star by now.

I know he's not a big time propect, but it says he was a JUCO All-American. Shouldn't that make him at least a 2-star?

jucos have their own ratings system on rivals still don't they?

last i saw I thought he was a 4 star on rivals

Granted, the coaches know more than we ever will, but why do we need a Juco RB? We have 5 RBs on campus now & 2-3 more already committed for February. The only thing I can think of is that the coaches decided it was time to open up that Fran-to-Fran pipeline. That could be big for kids who won't get in immediately after graduation.

Apparently he was on the same team as Jamaal Charles and is pretty good. I guess we will see...

Scout doesn't do a great job with JuCo players. They always undervalue them in my view (they tend to over-value them in basketball however).

Johnson is a good RB, but I'm with Dustin, we've got 3 RB's that got no playing time this year other than the SMU game, surely we don't need another one...

You can never have too much talent. I thought A&M was overloaded with WR's this year, but 6(I think?) injuries later, I appreciated the depth. As far as getting JUCO's is concerned, I don't want to heavily rely on it like Snyder did at K-State, but it's good to get them from time to time(wasn't Jason Carter a transfer?). My attitude on prospects is the more the merrier, you can never have too much depth.

No, Carter was a PQ. And with my prediction of Lewis transferring & maybe the coaches know of other RBs transferring, we may need him. Like I said, they know more than we do, and a JUCO guy is going to only be for next season & '07. Must be an immediate fix to future depth issues that we can only speculate on at this point.

Lewis transfer? He only has 1 year of eligibility left, is that even possible?

yeah i didn't think you could do that, but I'm not sure.

All depends on if he used his redshirt. If he didn't use the redshirt, he could transfer out, sit the year and play as a senior. Or he could go to a lower division program and play his senior year without redshirting. Those are the options.

He already has redshirted.

So his only option is to go to a 1-AA or D2 school to play if he were to not wish to continue his college education in College Station. I personally don't have anything against him. I think if he is used like he was yesterday he can and will help during the 06 campaign.

He can definitely transfer out...see Derek Farmer, Dustin Long, etc. I think it was clear yesterday that the problem with this team has been attitude. With his ass on the line next season, I look for Fran to eliminate the problems.

I couldn't care less about Lewis leaving. Not a team player IMO. We should cut our losses (Obviously we can operate without him)

Loftin

Yeah, I'd like to see Lewis have a big breakout season next year, but with Lane's outstanding play and word of other good RBs coming in, I wouldn't be heartbroken if he left.

It changed his rating (FYI), he's now a 4 star runningback on Scout.com

Word on texags is that he is no longer committed. Some are saying since he visited K-State that we pulled his ship. I hope this isn't true. I really thought he could come in a play well. Does this mean we are close on Williams or Goodson?

texag005
12-09-2005, 01:30 PM
Well NPL I would hope that means we are close on one of those two if Fran is willing to pull a ship from somebody who ideally could help out. But it also could be him sending a message to other recruits and commits, you wanna keep looking around and not be completely devoted to us, then we don't have a place for 2%'ers anymore here in college statoin. Either your with us or against us, make your decision. Well at least that's what i'd tell em. Who knows whether Fran is or not

I miss the days of Darren Lewis...Rodney Thomas...Leeland McElroy. When will we finally be able to recruit an Adrian Peterson-type back here to A&M?

The Star Telegram reported that he switched his committment from us to K State.

Figures...

I'd like to see us get a stable of running backs (much like tu) where the talent doesn't drop off with the subs (not saying it does in this year's teams -- Lane was awesome in the backup role)...

texag005
12-12-2005, 02:02 PM
Well I'm just glad he changed his decision now instead of after he got here or later when recruiting supposedly really heats up in january. I don't want anybody on our team that isn't 100% sure that's where they want to be

I just wonder why would you want to go to Manhattan, KS?

phatbc
12-12-2005, 06:21 PM
yeah I've been to manhattan and it is pretty much the sadest place in the middle of nowhere. I had some friends at ft. riley (which is right next to manhattan), and they said everyone got into a lot of trouble with drugs because there was nothing else to do. At least lawrence is pretty close to kansas city.

Well, especially with Snyder gone...and the Virginia guy coming as coach. I know Sproles went NFL, but who was the last UVA RB to go pro (was it Tiki Barber?)...either way, it's been a while...so why go where there are question marks.

Although, the same could be said about A&M. We know Fran will be here next year, but if the Aggies have another bad season, we could expect him to be on the way out soon (which I guess leaves things up the air while Kansas State knows exactly where they're going). I don't know...just speculating.

Honestly, i bet a lot of it has to do with the fact that even though they weren't all used efficiently this year, we have a pretty good stable of talented running backs with more coming in this year. I bet he has a helluva a better chance to play at KSU next year. Some are saying it's rumored Lewis is gone this offseason, but even if he did leave, we still have some talent there, especially if Cooper can get back into playing form and Goodson re-commits like so many think.
