Aggies Look To Improve to 2-0
Defense is becoming synonomous with Aggie Basketball. Coach Billy Gillespie's squad came out and dominated the Southern Jaguars in Sunday's season opening game 88-44. The 44 points was Southern's lowest of the season (which includes games vs #2 Texas and LSU). The tenacious defense forced 25 turnovers which translated to 37 offensive points. After the game, Southern's head coach said, "This was by far the best defensive team I've seen so far this season...Texas and LSU were good teams, don't get me wrong, but A&M plays a defensive style that we weren't accustomed to."
Even with the great defensive showing, the Aggies have a lot to work on. Personal fouls being one of the key concerns for Coach BG. The Aggies commited 28 fouls and allowed Southern to score 21 points off of free throws.
The Aggies look to continue their winning ways and improve their team game when they host the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils Tuesday night at 7 PM. BTHO MSV!November 21, 2005 - AggieFans.com News (http://aggiefans.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=23.php?)
