View Full Version : T-shirts for Football...

What do you guys think of making a shirt, of course it'd be maroon...(and we'd have to avoid using licensed logos, etc.)...but I'd like to look into the possibility.
Do we want to make it game-specific (like for the sips)? Any good shirt ideas out there? I'll look into getting them printed if we can come up with a good shirt design.

I would agree to it.
I just dont have a lot of money.

I would front the costs and take care of everything...just needed enough interest to do it. If we made it good enough they'd sell themselves. It's not required to buy, and the price isn't going to be high, just a little over cost.
And I know we have a lot of creative people, so I thought I'd open up the idea to everybody.
I'm at work right now (man, golf course jobs are tough) ;) but when I get home tonight I may try and come up with some ideas....

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me Vly, I'd buy one. Are you looking to make these Aggiefans.com specific or just design a football T-shirt? :)
Vlyrock
05-01-2005, 09:51 PM
There are two options...I would put a small aggiefans.com logo on either the front right chest if we put the design on the back..
Or the aggiefans.com logo would be small, centered on the back (shoulder high)...with the design on the front.
The design can be football specific - season wise (like some slogan or graphic or something) or it can be team specific...like for the game vs the sips.
These are just ideas...but I'm open to anything.

Do it.
The advertisement could get more people to the boards, especially at a football game where a lot of people would see it.

Sounds good. Got any ideas for a design/slogan/anything(?) because I want more than "advertising"...I want the shirts to be cool so people want them anyways.

Option 1 - Aggiefans.com on the front right chest. Not game specific though. Something that could be worn to every game.
Just my $0.02 worth.
Vlyrock
05-02-2005, 12:38 PM
Sounds good...it'd probably be white lettering for any text. Should it just say something...no graphics?
What should it say?
Come on people...ideas. ;)

Hard to think of a slogan for an internet site without sounding nerdy.
Vlyrock
05-02-2005, 04:51 PM
It doesn't have to be a slogan for the site..It's an Aggie football shirt (without directly having the ATM logo) 'cause we're not endorsed.
The logo on the chest or back is all the advertising the site needs. Honestly, I just want cool shirts...not walking advertisements.
I want people who have never heard of Aggiefans.com to say, that's a cool shirt, where'd you get it?
Loftin

Make some kind of Reggie for Heisman shirt, those would become quite popular.
Vlyrock
05-02-2005, 07:05 PM
That's a good idea. Any others?
AggieWill
05-03-2005, 09:37 AM
I wouldn't make any Reggie Heisman shirts.
Stick with A&M and this site.
Vlyrock
05-03-2005, 03:51 PM
I understand that because Reggie could get off to a bad start or get hurt and then the shirts would be pointless.
Any sayings, slogans, chants, or numbers we should put on it? Something about Wrecking Crew being back? Something about Run Reggie Run?
The only catch is I'm pretty sure I can't have the A&M logo on the shirt because of copyright and licensing laws.

Okay, don't laugh at me this is just an initial thought. :D For the front, how about a football, you know how footballs have the nike "swoosh" logo, subsitute the Aggiefans.com logo for the swoosh. Then in the back do something with the years schedule. This is just a thought. I also wouldn't do a Reggie specific shirt. A slogan would be good but I can't think of one.

yea i like the schedule idea
Vlyrock
05-04-2005, 08:22 AM
Sounds like the schedule idea is most popular so far. Other input would still be appreciated. I'll start working on some sort of design.
It's going to be a maroon shirt with a logo for aggiefans small and on the right chest. The schedule will be on the back. I'll try and add a little color, but multi-color shirts cost more...and I know we're all poor and going for cheap.
What should it say above the schedule games?

I made all those up in 2 seconds. Obviously, there are better ones. If somebody can think of some, that'd be cool. Post ideas here....We could always put it to a vote when we get a few.

Maybe you could place the schedule on the back inside an outline of the state of Texas. Maybe someone can come up with a play in words with the "Deep in the heart of Texas" theme, the play in words could allude to Aggies having heart and being THE school in TX, as opposed to that school a bit south and the one in the west Texas plains. Another idea would be to incorporate a silohouette (sp?) of a fan waving a towel since the site is AggieFANS.com and what is more symbolic than a fan waving the 12th man towel.
Here is a left field idea, what do you all think of a maroon and white tie-dye, it would certainly be unique. To be honest, I don't know how I feel about this, but the idea popped into my head so thought I'd throw it out there. Maybe we would be accused of being hippies with the tie-dye, LOL.

Hey guys...thanks for all your suggestions.
Here's the plan so far (hopefully we can make it work graphically and price wise)
The front right will have the aggiefans.com logo (as seen at the top). The only adjustment is that if you cut those 3 lines short where they intersect the main oval, you can make them look like football laces. That way, it'll look like the logo is on top of a football.
The back will have an outline of a person waving a towel in the background with the Aggies 2005 schedule over it.
It will have date, opponent, and location (or stadium) (or both).

As soon as we can get a logo/graphic done, I'll post a preview of it.

05-06-2005, 09:20 PM
I need a good, clear picture of a fan waving a towel...
anybody got one or know where to find one? I tried google...no luck.
I want to use the outline for the shirt background.

Here's my idea for the front...it'll be small logo on the chest
http://aggiefans.com/forums/images/frontsample.jpg
The actual image will be cleaner, but this was something I made (not the person I have help me make logos)
What do you think?

I still have to design the back and order them. Do you guy know a good t-shirt printing place (preferably with a website)?
I'm looking to get the best quality I can for the cheapest price -- so that they're not too expensive. If anybody knows a place, let me know. Thanks for the positive response so far.

The more I look at it, the "Aggiefans.com" looks like a good baseball logo. I like how you have it scripted over a football. Keep some variant of that. When you have an idea for the pricing, get it posted, because I will have to buy a couple or more.

Just down the road from Kyle Field, I remember when I was in school, these guys would have some huge sidewalk type sales a few times a year, at least once on game day during the season.

True Maryland Ag. I went to a game and ended up getting a bunch of T-shirts that were surplus stock for next to nothing.

We've lost our graphic designer. I'm putting out an APB for any person skilled in graphic design that would like to design a shirt(s) for Aggiefans.com.
I am willing to give them the shirt for free once it's printed and also give them free membership upgrades since the site can't afford to pay. Anybody want to take a stab at it?
PM me or post here.

Ill throw my 2 cents in of tshirt design in...
#1 the less graphics used the better... (this will depend on what type/quality screening used) but Ive always liked the higher quality ones because they are less prone to sticking to you in the hot texas sun.
#2 I would be willing to pay a few extra bucks for high quality tagless tshirts.... tagless is really nice to have as is a shirt that will last.
I also think a "reggie for heisman" (brought to you by aggiefans.com) would get the attention of people more than your current design.
Vlyrock
06-23-2005, 03:17 PM
The only worry I have...what happens if Reggie goes down against Clemson? Or just plays like crap...who's going to want a Reggie for Heisman shirt then?
Other than that, I think it's a good idea, and very easy to design...
Opinions?

I don't think you can legally use reggie's name, we made a similar shirt last year and couldn't use his name

There were 'Reggie for Heismen' shirts last year though....right???
Texas Aggie 07
07-01-2005, 07:35 PM
I'm not sure if there were any others. We did it as a fundraiser, maybe that was the reason we couldn't use his name. If there is absolutely no profit being made off them, then it might be ok.

Are we really going to put that Heisman thing up? I would say just put the schedule and our site
Vlyrock
07-05-2005, 03:24 PM
No, apparently the Heisman thing is a no-go. I want something that can go on the front only because it's cheaper for one side printing. But, if that's the best idea we can come up with...we can do that. Just can't put an Aggiefans.com logo on something that specifically is about A&M...(can't imply endorsement). We can just try and come up with a cool aggiefans.com logo. (better than the baseball looking logo) ... :D
Slotback
07-06-2005, 02:17 PM
Well, the baseball style logo is definitely a keeper. Especially for baseball season. If someone comes up with something cool for football season, that's ok too.
OK designers, get to work.

MarylandAG
07-11-2005, 07:14 AM
Small thing, which I think Vly already alluded to. On that shirt design we could not incorporated the Aggiefans logo. If we put anything coprighted by A&M is has to be A&M only, can have any other logos. Would folks like an A&M shirt or and Aggiefans.com shirt? I'm thinking the Aggiefans.com shirt will be much cheaper to make and less trouble, won't have to go through the licensing office.

Exactly. Let's stick with a team one where if we lose 1-2 games yet win the BigXII the shirt still means something.
Putting it on one man is so risky
