Ags Disappear After Halftime
The Aggies did it again to fans. They showed signs of promise and fight, coming back from a quick 14-0 deficit to Texas Tech, and fought back to make it 14-10 at the half. The signs of an upset were there. "The Ags actually showed up! We can win this thing or keep it close," many fans thought. Unfortunately, bad breaks and bad defense caused the Aggies to be outscored 42-7 in the second half in a 56-10 defeat at the hands of the Red Raiders. The telling stat of the game -- 3rd down conversions. A constant Achilles Heel for the Ags -- TEXAS TECH, 9-14.....A&M, 2-11.
The defense played tough in the first half. Cornerbacks were knocking away balls, playing bump and run, and safeties were hitting receivers that were trying to catch across the middle. The defensive line got some pressure, although minimal, but enough to cause 2 fumbles and 1 interception in the first half. As luck would have it for the Ags, just like in the second half -- 2 fumbles would bounce straight into the hands of a Tech player for positive yards. Regardless, the first half play seemed inspired and like Aggies of recent old (like 2 years ago). However, the second half started with a Jorvorskie Lane fumble and only went downhill from there. The game wouldn't end before Jorvorskie fumbled again and the Aggies lost another fumble by Lane. The Aggies lost the turnover battle 3-1, and as history holds true, when that happens, more times than not, the Aggies lose.
Up next for A&M is an away game at Oklahoma. The Sooners have finally found momentum and are coming off a bye week in which they were preparing for the Aggies. The Aggies are still looking for that elusive 6th win that will get them bowl eligible. With Texas looming in the final game of the season, it'd be a good idea to try and get it in Norman. The Aggies also hope to avenge a 77-0 loss from 2 years ago. Will it happen? Or will the Aggies season continue to spiral out of control? Only time will tell...but you can tune in and watch the Aggies at 11:00 AM on ABC.
