Is this the best Texas Team of all time?

Any older geezers in here have any insight? I know some people say the 1969 Texas team was one of the best college football teams ever but that is a little before my time.

I tend to think Nebraska in '95 was the best college football team ever but that is just me.

I personally think that their 2001 team was better. If Brown had played Applewhite the entire year like he should have, they would have easily gone undefeated and won a MNC.

They had at least 4 or 5 guys on that defense that are starting or getting significant playing time in the NFL right now. Plus, they had Benson, R. Williams, S. Thomas, B. Scaife, BJ Johnson, and other studs on offense.

I think the 2004 Longhorns were better than this year's team, but they're benefitting from a weakened Big XII.

The best Longhorn team ever was probably any year we beat them. At least those are my favorite :D

One could make an argument that their 2001 team was better. Their 1983 team which blew it in the Cotton Bowl to Georgia should have been National Champs.

This team however, is excellent.

That 1983 team put a lot of guys in the NFL. I think it was and still may be a record for drafted players. Anyone else know? Either way, the current team has much more on offense, especially at the skill positions.

I was alive in 1969 and can remember watching the Ark game with my dad in his apt just a/ the folks seperated ;-( . In terms of results, they have to rank first so far as best team all-time. But lets see how this year finishes. If they make the Rose Bowl but then lay an egg like ou did, then the 1969 team is still best.

The 2005 team would beat the 1969 team, of course, but peer-to-peer is the only way to look at historical comparisions, IMO.

This years team has more talent on both sides of the ball. Not just as an off/def group, but genuine play making individuals.

With that, and the fact that VY has matured and has built confidence ever since last years Texas/OSU game, there may be no stopping them this year.

Now I am a Texas fan so my opinion may be a bit jaded, but that's the way I see it.
