The NCAA just approved a 12 game regular season. Big 12 Commisioners are now debating whether the 9th game should be added as a conference game...but that would mean dropping the Championship game.

Here's the article from DMN:

Added 12th game could be conference tilt

The NCAA Division I board of directors are expected to vote today on whether Division I-A football teams can play a 12th game. Weiberg said the Big 12 could use that to add a ninth conference game each year if athletic directors vote to eliminate the championship game.

"I don't believe personally at the end of the day that not having a championship game is a good idea," Weiberg said. "But let's assume for a moment that there was majority support to move away from it. Then I think you would have to think about a ninth conference game."

My feeling is that the SEC/Big 12/MAC are at a disadvantage because they play the Championship Game. I would like to see a level playing field. Either get rid of it, or all conferences have it.

That's ok with me. Better than filling that slot in with a cupcake like Rice or UNT.

I think they need to keep the Championship game. Adding another conference game wouldn't be bad it would just mean don't schedule 2 creampuffs instead of 3.

I am in the minority.

I LOVE THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

It makes sure that 1 team is crowned the champions.

If an undefeated team losses to a 3-loss team, so be it. It's part of the schedule. It would be like losing a 3-loss team in the regular season. It's a game you need to win.
