Screw the NO mayor. Owning an NFL team is a business. What about the hundreds of other New Orleans based businesses that have left the state and moved to better locations? How come the mayor is not bashing the owners of these companies? That city could barely support that team before the hurricane. Does he really think making comments like that will make the owner leave the team in Louisiana?
If the state really loved the Saints, then why can't they even sell out Tiger stadium for their home games later this year?

I think it's about time we have 3 NFL teams in this great state. I wonder what their name is gonna be, b/c that idiot from NO seems to be saying they aren't gonna let em keep the name or logo.

LOL 2006 :gig:
My hometown is SA and I would love to have a football team. I've been waiting my life for another pro team! I'm not sure about a name, that would be tough. I hope this really happens.

I would love to have a third Texas NFL team. Our state loves football more than any other, so it really fits. Besides, San Antonio only has an NBA team, you know they would support an NFL team if given the chance.

San Antonio already has a team named the Missions. Its their AA baseball team.

Hmm I knew that sounded familiar for some reason. And then I remembered it's b/c i played them with the rangers AA team on playstation. Well i bet it has something to do with the alamo or texas history.

Interesting. Previous San Antonio football teams:
1969-1969, San Antonio Toros; CFL
1975-1975, San Antonio Wings; WFL
1984-1985, San Antonio Gunslingers; USFL

Gunslingers would be kind of cool, or maybe the SA Border Patrol, hell i don't know

How bout the Vandals?
Funny you should say that, I was thinking about the same name. It was one of the team names you could use for Madden and I made a San Antonio Vandals team, and they had the logo with the black sillhouette and the guns.

That city could barely support that team before the hurricane.
So I guess all those sell-outs for consecutive seasons was bs?
The city was keeping the Saints as a Top 10 NFL money-making team.
The owner (a true POS in every sense of the word) refuses to release several documents given to him BY THE NFL showing all of his money-making revenues.
The Superdome will be ready in late 2006 to house a team.
The mayor of SA and others trying to steer the Saints away (yes...steer the Saints AWAY) are the completely idiots in this deal, imo.
Leave it to them to take away a cities team in their worst scenario.

Being from San Antonio, I can tell you they desperately want an NFL team. They tried to get the Vikings when Red McCombs bought them -- and they've always eyed the Saints while Benson's owned them. It's not a new thing about San Antonio trying to get the Saints. That's why they've played pre-season games there before...San Antonio has always been courting the Saints and Vikings.
To say they waited for this opportunity (Katrina) to steal the team is going too far. They've been trying to steal them for a long time. That's one of the reasons the Alamodome was built -- to house an NFL team (either Vikings, Saints, or an expansion team)....

Thankfully, it seems Paul T will not allow a move to SA so it won't matter for car salesman Tom Benson. Mother....nevermind
