Well...what did you guys think of the Aggies today?

offense looked good, but defense still scares me. OSU still scored 23 points. I was very happy with the turnovers and us actually looking for the ball a couple times. Gregg is going to be great. I really liked that we went for it twice on 4th downs. That shows me a determination that had been lacking. Hopefully we will have no more playing it safe. Try and make a play, and if you get burned then come back and make a play

Javorskie Lane and Martellus are going to be really good, THIS year. I was especially excited at how Javorskie played, he has Toombs-like potential.
Brandon Leone is a decent WR. He is a terrible RB. He had 4 fumbles in the first half, and only 1 was on the option play.
Reggie looked the most comfortable today that I've seen him all year. With the exception of his one INT(which was an awful play in his part), his passing was crisp and reliable. He also did not hesitate to run, and the result was 150 rushing yards. McNeal looked much improved today.
Jaxson Appel snagged an INT today, a rarity. :gig:
Frankly, Brock Newton isn't good. Gorrer and Carpenter are good at times, but Gregg looked outstanding.
Our kickoff coverage is a disaster. I say we go back to using a 12th Man kicking team every time, since they play with a lot of heart.
Todd Pegram made a 45-yard FG. I can't remember off the top of my head a singl FG he has made longer than that.
Stephen McGee is a good scrambler. He's not quite the dual-threat that Reggie is, but when he commits to run, he has a quick step.
The D-Line looked good today. Some big sacks got the crowd excited and the rest of the defense pumped up.
I can't remember a single time that DeQawn Mobley played today. That's not a bad thing...
Even with Foliaki out, our LB corps is deep. Warren, Manning, Greene, McDaniel, and Hodge all did well today.

Here are my observations from the other thread:
Well that was fun. We just got home, the babysitter just left, half of my face is sunburned, and I'm hoarse but didn't lose my voice. All in all a very good time. Observations:
1. Defense lost intensity in second quarter and almost let them back in the game.
2. As mentioned on another thread, it's amazing what happens when safeties and corners look up when the receiver does.
3. Reggie played okay but could have played better. He acts like he's mad about something.
4. DON'T KEEP KICKING THE BALL TO THE REALLY FAST GUY. It would be nice to see kickoffs actually make it into the endzone.
5. If I hear "BRING ON THE WOOD" one more time I'm slitting my wrists.
I know this wasn't a true test, but we did play a lot better than we have been. Maybe we're turning the corner.
I agree with Loftin. I like to see runningbacks hit the defense and drag a couple of people with them. Lane was impressive.

Reggie clearly kept his head about him today & didn't go partying with Antoine Wright on Thurs. or Friday night this week.
Defense is extremely slow. OSU doesn't have a dominant RB but they beat us to the corners a lot. Thank God their QB decided to stay in the pocket most of the day.
Tackling was still sloppy. Lots of missed tackles by guys who were squared up & should've made the big hit & wrapped up.
Can Ray Ray Jones graduate tomorrow? I know he bench presses something like 1,000 lbs. & squats two elephants, but that doesn't help him tackle or fight off blocks.
Archie McDaniel looks like a nun at an orgy....LOST. Everyone else seemed to know what they were doing before the ball was snapped (which is a huge improvement) except for Archie. I don't know if he is deaf or dense, but someone needs to be put in charge of making sure that Archie knows what he is doing. He is a very talented player, he just doesn't seem to know what to do. ARCHIE...GET FOOTBALL!!!
Leone tried to do too much. He ran extremely hard & made a lot of guys miss, but he has to learn that he can't compromise protecting the football to get an extra yard or two. Also remember, he hasn't been working with Reggie on the option at all since the season started. The option is one of the hardest offensive plays to run successfully & pitch relationship & timing are a major part of that. Leone will only get better.
I don't think we saw Brantly until the 3rd quarter (which is a damn good thing) but he is a bad ass. The guy will be the next Lechler as long as we don't try to coach him.
Tommerdahl has a Magic 8 ball made just for him for kickoffs. What should we do this time? Magic 8 Ball says, "Squib" "Pooch" "Corner" "Deep...oh wait...please select again." I said after the SMU game that we should leave the 12th Man kick-off team out there until they give up a TD...they can't be any worse. If we aren't going to do that then we should either start kicking the ball out-of-bounds or kicking an on-side everytime.
O-line loooked stellar--even after Yemi got hurt & we had to run Jami & Steamer in there on a regular basis. On the topic of Jami, he has put on at least 10 lbs. since the Baylor game. I thought that last week, but I also had heard that TV adds 10 lbs--nope, Jami has to be at least 380 & its not muscle.
We eliminated a lot of stupid mistakes. I haven't looked at the stats, but I can't remember a holding call on the O-line all game, & I don't know if we had any delay-of-games or false starts. That is huge. In Fran's words, "It keeps us from getting behind the chains." We managed to stay ahead of the chains all game & it paid off.
This team is Bi-polar. We could easily win out & win the Big XII title or ISU might be our last win of the season. Either way, we have to come out strong against K-state & make sure we get that win. We saw in '03 how fast Fran coached teams can mail it in. I thought after CU that might happen this year, but we showed today that we can rebound. We have a lot of depth at a lot of positions. And not just depth, but talented depth, as evidenced by the fact that we didn't miss much of a beat from SMU to today. Keep in mind, in the span between those games we have lost two starting WR (assuming that Mobley is hurt), a starting RB, a back-up RB (assuming that Samson is hurt), at least one starting OL, a starting LB, a safety who had started all of last year & most of this year, 2 CBs (assuming that Gorrer & Peterson are hurt)--if I'm missing anyone, help me out.
I was ready to write this team off as a failure after last week & I'm still not convinced that we are Championship caliber, but keep in mind, we control our own destiny.

I was thinking the same thing. He definitely looked huge

I was worried this would happen.....we beat up on an extremely bad OSU team, and then think that we have fixed some things. I am ready for our wake-up call to come very soon.

Gravy...so...basically, there were 2 options for you, both negative.
One, we play well -- and then we think we fix some things but really suck and will get a wake-up call soon.
Or...
Two, we don't play well -- and it's a "man we suck" atmosphere.
Maybe we did fix things -- try not to be so pessimistic. :) There are still things to work on, but man, learn to enjoy a 39 point win! :D

UGH.... That was really hard to listen to on the radio....
It sounded like after we gave you the spread we started to play a little. Not that the outcome would have changed, but if our first drive wouldn't have been a fumble on the first play, the game could have at least been interesting, IMO. Oh, and the 3 int's inside the 3/endzone didn't help much either.

There is light at the end of the tunnel Structural. You lost a ton of talent and a really good coach this year. We had a similar situation in 2003, but we did get better. Your recruiting should help you.

Dear God I hope so. From the radio, it didn't sound like our (3rd string) QB didn't do that bad. Obviously there were the ints and fumble, but it sounded like we were able to move the ball pretty well with him. And hey, moving the ball was one of those 'moral victories' for us. Oh well....
Oh, wait -- this is where I'm supposed to say "We'll get you next year" or "Wait until basketball season" or something like that, right? :)

You offer no substance with your post. Rather than making a blanket statement without anything except a pessimistic opinion, how about actually talking about the game & football.

I don't know man. Aggie basketball is no longer a term that is accompanied with laughter. We could give you a run for your money. Billy Gillispie said that we will be 19-0 at home this year, so maybe his guarantee will have Pat Riley-like results.

that sounds eerily familiar :(
