What games have you been to where the advantage of Kyle field has been the most impressive?
Mine is OU in 2002

Against OU in 2000 the fans did everything they could to help win it. Stupid playcalling when we had 1st and goal at the 8 proved fatal.

'99 t.u....'97 OSU, '98 NU, and '01 ND was insane.

Upon further review, 1989 vs UH was insane. That was where RC announced that the Run and Shoot was going to meet the blitz and destroy. Needless to say the electricity from Midnight Yell carried over to the game.

Good call on '99 tu and '01 ND...forgot i was there then. Something about alcohol consumption and brain cells...I can't remember why I can't remember things sometimes.

All those games were insane. I was at all of them. Nebraska in 98 and OU 2000 especially since I missed weddings for them. A cousin and aunt respectively.
EDIT: All of the except that UH game mentioned above.
Those games seemed like a diferent world now. There are students who have never been to Kyle Field when it was rocking and you couldn't hear the person standing next to you.

'97 OSU was probably the most fun I've ever had a game. For those of you that don't remember, we were way down in the 4th quarter, fought back, & won it in OT. I brought a friend to the game who was a major T-shirt t-sip...he left that game & submitted his application to A&M before he left CS. That was also the game that we convinced him that the fish that don't cover down on the yell leaders have to haul ass to the top of Albritton to start playing the bells after an Aggies win...great times.

05' Baylor. Was also at the VaTech game but it didn't turn out to good.

The '05 Baylor game was not won by the 12th man. That game was one because they were Baylor & we got lucky. That was more a stunned hush that Baylor took us to OT than anything. The place didn't erupt until C-Lew got in.

I was a freshman last year, so the 2004 Wyoming game was my first at Kyle. Honestly, every single game last season the crowd was great. EVERY game crowd noise caused a timeout. EVERY game had the stadium rocking. EVERY game there were times when the students chanted "Wrecking Crew, Wrecking Crew."
This year, Kyle has really lost a lot of magic. And if what you guys say is correct, I really feel like I missed out on when Kyle Field was what we like to say it is.

2003 Utah, stopped smith one yard from the enzone (was it a 2pt conversion?) that game was nuts, as quiet as the crowd usually was that season.

All I know is I was yelling, except for a 20 minutes time period were flying dimes and jerks behind me deceided to be cool and throw a fit cause I was standing.

Don't get me wrong guys. I'm not saying that Kyle Field isn't loud. (excuse the double negative, but I don't know how else to put it....you get the point.) Its just that there are degrees of loudness. There was a game when I was in school (need some help from you old ags remembering which game it was) when we tried to break the world record for the highest decible level at an outdoor sporting event....and only fell 1.5 decibles short. There is no way we could even attempt that now. Until you've heard it that loud, you don't know what loud is.

I want to say that it was the OU game in 2000, but I'm not sure.

I can't remember whether it was '00 or '02 OU, but wasn't it when Gameday was there?
And I haven't been to any games this year, but I was at the CU game last year (sitting on 3rd deck in the cheap recent grad tickets) and that was a crazy game and it was "loud" but not anywhere nearly as loud as a few games when i was still in school.
Not to bash current students, but Kyle is just not the same as it used to be. The game where we tried to break the decibel meter was totally nuts, and if i remember correctly they tried that again the next year (maybe at Va Tech, but I'm not sure) and we didn't even get close.

that game where we tried to break the world record was painful! My ears rang for hours afterward.

It also took lots of beer to "cool" off my vocal cords afterwards.

:gig: Aaaah that would be november 9th 2002 I have 'The Eagle ' laminated in my office headlines "OH, YOU AGGIES" A&M knocks off NO.1 Sooners. My ears hurt for two days after that one and I couldnt talk for a week. Great game and loud as it could be bUt I still think we can beat the world record.

We can't beat the record until we close in the south end zone. Too much noise escapes from that side of the field. Imagine if Kyle was a dome?

I went to the A&M-UH game in the Astrodome in 1988. It was maybe 2/3rds full. Full of Aggies. Now that was loud. Very loud.
