I saw that Vinatieri hit the 19th game winning field goal of his career today. My question is, should field goals that don't lose the game if missed count as game winning field goals?
Let's count:
Vinatieri hit today when the game was tied.
He kicked them past Pittsburgh when they were tied earlier this year.
2 Super Bowl kicks were when they were tied.
Any overtime win was from when they were tied...so...
So, to me, that's a misleading stat. When I think Game-Winning, I'm thinking if he misses, then the team loses. If he misses, no mention gets made of it...
Just a curious question that popped in my head.
