Glad to see that some of the Katrina evacuees are spending their money appropriately....by gambling it on slots. This lady got lucky and won $1.6M. She was on her way to KMart, but decided to stop and play the slots for a while. My favorite part of the article is the quote at the end.

You just don't realize what done happened until the person next to you hits you and says, 'Well, you done did it.

With $20 in hand, Sherman was en route with her sister to do some shopping when, on a whim, she decided to try her luck at the slots.

"I was on the road to Kmart and decided to stop at the casino."

Wow!! Thats pretty damn funny. I tried that line of thinking on the wife & I didn't work. "I was on my way to Wal-Mart, when on a whim, I decided to try my luck at The Gold Cup."

I'm sure she'll use the money to rebuild her house in the same 12 foot below sea level neighborhood, just so it can be destroyed next year by another hurricane.

Well as long as they aren't jacking and robbing people I'm all for it. The increase in crime in SA because of the refugees is insane. They are jacking people at night at the clubs here.

My bf doesn't want to help people from katrina b/c of that, among other things.

Lets load em all up on a bus and ship their criminal asses to the coast put them on a cruise ship and the let the navy, airforce, marines, whoever wants a shot blow them the hell outta the water.

Actually about a week after Katrina hit, Carnival offered two cruise ships to house whoever wanted housing at sea. They all refused because they said it wasen't good enough so Carnival said, "Well F*ck you then."

That is a true story. We learned that while they deployed the SAFD to the frontlines when they shipped 30k of them to here.

True.

Next time LA gets hit by a Earthquake...let's refuse to rebuild or help them...since hey...why rebuild on a place most likely to be hit anyway yet again years down the road.

Makes perfect sense.
