So I saw a Rose Bowl ring today, pretty gawdy but not more than would be expected. But what I thought was strange was one whole side was dedicated to "Texas State Champions", with an outline of the state of Texas and 5 dots presumably representing Texas' victories over A&M, Tech, Rice, Baylor, and UNT. Maybe I'm picking nits, but that just seemed out of place on the Rose Bowl ring.

That's ridiculous! Why would you put something like that on a bowl ring? Maybe I missed something, but when exactly was the Texas State Championship? Was that held the week before the Big 12 Championship?
Can anybody find and post a picture of this ring?

Didn't they have a parade for a third place team a couple of years ago?

It's things like this that make me root for A&M (and everybody else) to beat tu.

Auburn actually made National Championship rings this year.
What is it with people?

I think Auburn has a legitimate claim to do so...nobody beat them all year. They just got hosed because they didn't start off high in the rankings.
If we played a full college season in the SEC, didn't lose a whole game, won our BCS bowl...I'd have much less complaints about putting national champions on the ring...
At least, there's a real national champion. When has there ever been a Texas State Champion in college football?

lol, true.
It does bother me that Auburn is still doing it when they didn't win the NC.
LSU continually yelled at USC about how the real and only NC came from the crystal ball and Auburn fans agreed.
Now they don't.
Bit hypocritical.

this is an old subject, since a few years ago, the longhorn made an actual ring and offer the players them if they want after each year when they beat all the in-state teams. its very high schoolish, but those are the type of players that mack brown recruits....the ones that constantly need pats on their backs.
here is where u can order one.
