Before I make anybody mad, let me say that I support coach fran, and this isn't a fire coach thread or anything, I'm just curious.

Does anybody know anything about Fran and Koening's offensive systems prior to A&M, like TCU and Bama? What type quarterback, dual threat or pure drop back passer has he traditionally recruited/used in his system? I'm curious because althought the chance is probably remote, it may be possible that he or the O coord are out of their normal element with Reggie. Perhaps there schemes are more suited to different personnel. I'm really just being curious, and I do realize that this was only one bad offense performance, and it appears Reggie may not have had 20/20 vision (poked in the eye, thus the visor). As I write this I'm thinking of next year with McGee. Perhaps that is what Fran and Co are used to, and things will click. Anybody?

Fran coached a guy at NM that went from permian hs to nm to the pros. the name elludes me right now. he was a pro-style qb.

I believe at TCU he had one of each style.

At Bama I am not sure.

To be honest, All i remember is them having stud running backs at tcu and bama. They had brodie croyle, (whatever his name is) their last year at bama and he's not exactly the next coming of deon sanders when it comes to speed, but all i can remember is LT at tcu and then them having a stud at bama, but i can't remember his name.

Stoney Case - Pro Style QB at NM
LT with Pro Style QB at TCU
Shaud Williams - and no idea on QB at Bama

I for for one will welcome McGee

I like Reggie and I'm glad he played here, but from the posts up above it seems Fran has mostly used a pro style QB and a world beater running back. So I think maybe when McGee steps in, Fran will be back in his comfort zone, all we need to do is address the world beater running back through recruiting, maybe Latreal will come back to form and that will be the answer, or maybe by some goofy alignment of the planet we will end up with Goodsen, or one of the other elite back. Just a thought, perhaps Fran's magical turnaround has been in year 3, but this time circumstances will make the magic turn around on year 4. :D

So is it true that Reggie was wearing the visor b/c of an eye injury? Maybe it has been covered on another thread that I didn't see (b/c I am wearing a visor too! :))

I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere Pfug, but no one has denied it either. I tend to believe there is truth to it, I don't think an experienced QB would just decide to wear one all of a sudden. I heard on another board he got poked in the eye in practice, and was having trouble seeing even during the game, that would be a good explanation for the kind of day he had. I kept looking and thinking something was wrong, so I expect this game was just an abberation.

You know Cru, I actually thought about that, guess we wont ever know. Really, who cares, as long as the old Reggie shows up in Boulder, and I have faith that he will. :gig:

That is the first thing that I thought of too. I was wondering if he had a black eye or something that he was trying to hide. I need to go look at the video again b/c at halftime, Reggie has his helmet off walking off the field with Fran.

He's also in this post game press conference, but i did not notice anything too obvious with his eye. Then again i wasn't looking all that closely

He got his eye scrathed during the Tx. St. Game. Hopefully the visor will be gone this week, but if nothing else, hopefully it won't be tinted.

I personally will be happy when Reggie graduates so Fran can get back to a pro-style QB and the I-formation. I will miss Reggie because of what he can bring to the table but I will be very happy when McGee (if he is the one next year) takes over with his arm. Also, I will be glad when he gets away from this Utah-style offense crap. I think we put way too much emphasis on Reggie and not everything else with the offense. He has a hell of an arm but he still can't seem to get his passes down. I have been watching him throw the ball high for 3 years. Maybe he should just run and throw the ball deep. He seems to be really good at both of those aspects of the offense. Anyway, it won't matter if Torbush can't get his act and his defensive team's act together quick and I mean NOW!

Of course, if our O-line would open more holes for Courtney and we actually had someone to catch the ball besides Carter, this would be all a moot point because Reggie would be lighting up everyone he plays.

I'm just hoping Courtney doesn't fumble in this next game...seems he always has one when running around the outside.

He seems much more tentative than he did his fish year. Maybe it is because he is not the primary runner anymore (not as many touches) in the offense or maybe it is because of the injury from last year. I have been wondering about him all year.

He looks better this year than he did last year.

I think he looks better running this year, but he fumbles once a game in the red zone which irks me

I'm not worried about our offense.

Hmmmm...maybe Reggie's problems were the SI On-Campus Cover Jinx. Hopefully, that only last a week.
