Well, I just got back from the game and severely disappointed. Buffalo gave this game away (with a little help from the refs). Not to mention I sat by some very obnoxious N.O. fans from LA (can we please get NO so they can go back home?) <-- They were classless, obnoxious, and drunker than hell.
As for San Antonio...they really adopted the Saints. The attendance was over 58,000 and the stadium was rocking. They got loud -- but not always at appropriate times. On a 3rd and goal for the Saints from the 2, the stadium was louder than it was the whole game -- you would've swore we were in Buffalo. Just shows you that some fans dont' know when to be quiet and when to cheer.
The penalties were ridiculous. First, Buffalo got called for 11, N.O. 3. The ones Buffalo did get called for all came on big plays. 2 McGahee runs of 30+ yards had a holding call on them (from a WR). On defense, the Bills got called for 2 illegal contacts, one illegal hand to the face, and some phanton holding call on a pass that was 30 yds away from the WR. The Saints however (according the ref), played a flawless game...:sarcastic: There were tons of uncalled penalties and the Bills just couldn't overcome it.
But -- there were 2 keys in the game.
1) The kickoff return with :18 to go in the first half. Bills returned it 99 yards, only to get tripped up by a guy laying on the ground on the 3 yard line...the returner could've run right around him on the ground but tried to hurdle him. Instead of halftime 14-13, they went in down 13-7. Not sure if the TV showed, but there was also a fight in the tunnel between Sam Adams (ex-Aggie) and some saints. Lawyer Milloy tried to pull S. Adams off and Adams shoved him, so must've been pretty heated.
2) The 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 from the 50. Bills obviously didn't convert, but why not give it to your fullback or sneak on a 4th and inches? Instead, they drop back 5 yards to give it to McGahee who's tackled for a loss.
Also, anybody who watched it on tv - Did they say why they pulled Losman? He wasn't tearing up the D, but the receivers were dropping passes. His only bad play was the interception. Did he get shaken up on that big sack?
Overall though, the Saints should be happy with the support San Antonio showed. I bet it'll be even louder when the Falcons come to town.
