View Full Version : ESPN's Take on Tech

Maybe the media guide started it, but evidently the sand fleas haven't done anything to change everyone's impression of them.
Texas Tech is talking about putting 100 points on the scoreboard. In a related story, there's no talk about the Red Raiders having class.

Awesome find. At least that football story made me laugh this morning.

Well when you think about it, that large group of them that has no class doesn't seem to care that they are damaging the image of their university.(not all of them conduct themselves disrespectfully and without any class)

They don't care. Leach has gave them confidence and with that they have some arrogance.
And I'm all for it. If you don't want Tech to hang 100 points on you, then stop them. Otherwise, in my opinion, people should just drop it.
Tech is going to come at us, not ever quitting or giving up, trying to hang 100 points on us. It won't happen but I guarentee that's thier goal.
So what are we going to say after it's over? "Uh..... Tech has no class. They suck."

No, but that is different, Wade. You can't compare the two. Wanting to go out & put up a 100 on a conference opponent doesn't compare to actually doing it against the Catholic Sisters of the Blind. And if you think that they won't do it if they have a chance, then I think you are sorely mistaking. Stoops guys wanted to go out & hang 100 on us the last time we went to Norman. That didn't make them classless. We all know they could have put up a hundred, but they didn't--thats the difference. I'll drop it if & when they put up 70 something points & then quit going for it on 4th down, and start running the football. And don't give me the whole, "Thats not our game," bit. It doesn't matter if its your game or not. When you are up that much, you have proven dominance, your offense is clicking. Just run out the clock.

I totally agree. Prime example, we run a QB sneak on the last play of the smu game so that we didn't score again. Stoops running his FB into the middle of our defense for bascially the entire 4th quarter of that game. It just showing class in everything you do.

But that is not thier game...... Why should they change it because they are dominating? I totally disagree 100% for changing thier game plan just because the other team isn't stopping them.
Leaving thier first team would be another story. When you are that far ahead the second and third teams should be in, but they should be executing the same game plan they came in with. The Big 12 is too competitive to not take advantage of actual game experience. That is what Leach will do.
If I was coach, and trust me I'm not, I would have a more balanced runing/passing game so it would be possible for me to run more and burn the clock. I would have second and third team in their running more. But in Tech's case it's not. And people should deal with it.

But that is not thier game.
You don't follow directions very well, Wade. ;)
And like I said, you have already proven your dominance. You can't tell me that getting in a few more fade routes from your 2nd string QB to your 3 string WR is going to better prepare you for Big XII play. And its not changing their game plan. The game is all but over. Any decent human being would have it in their game plan to get up by X amount of points & then put in 2nd string. And if we get up by Y amount of points to run out the clock.
But for the sake of discussion--because I enjoy intelligent conversations & I'm stuck at home, holed up, waiting for a hurricane...lets go this route. Okay, fine....keep throwing the ball. But then they should run that stupid bubble screen & then just fall down. Like we ran the QB sneak to keep from putting up points, & OU just hit the hole & fell down, Tech & every other team for that matter, should make sure they do one thing. Keep the clock running. I don't think its a matter of whether you throw the ball or hand it off, but rather what are your intentions. If you are throwing the ball because that is your game plan, but yet you are still throwing it short, going down, letting the clock run...no one would have a problem. But if you are up 93-0 & you are slinging it down field, going for it on 4th & 1, getting out of bounds to stop the clock, & calling TOs to try & get one more TD, then thats classless. This isn't even about Tech anymore, its just about football etiquette. Now if Tech goes out tomorrow & does everything that I just mentioned, then its about Tech again! :D

Raider,
Honest question...does it bother you that the media thinks that your school has no class? How much does Tech need to be up by before they stop passing the ball?

RR, Get off your high horse & quit taking offense to everything on this board. I wasn't the one who said it, ESPN was. If you've got an axe to grind them take it up with them.

I don't think the whole team is classless, most Hodges because he said he hopes they put 100 on Illinois state

first off hodges didnt say that. he said we take the field every week hoping we can score 100. then he said if there were a time to do it it would be this week.
second off...who cares what espn thinks of tech. when they bash tamu you call them idiots. THEY ARE THE MEDIA. the media has to post things in order to make money. everyone loves to hate tech right now because of the OOC and the 100gazillon points and leach not letting the media talk to our players and blah blah blah.
and all of you know leaches stand on the points. we have to ball, we score. you dont have the ball? STOP US.

Yeah, we all know Leach's stance, but that does not mean that its right. It gives your university a bad name and hurts your recruiting. If I was the Tech AD, I would do something to stop it.

And true to form, props to Leach. I just started watching the game online & all the back-ups are in on O, they ran it twice, & he he punted on 4th down right around midfield. On a negative note for Tech, Chad Hill LB was hurt & he is being taken back to the locker room.
