NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Nashville police were asked to search for Vince Young (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9589) on Monday evening after family members placed a call to the Tennessee Titans (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=ten) informing them of their concern for the quarterback's state of mind.
According to Nashville Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron, Young "abruptly" left his home in Williamson County at around 7 p.m. Monday without his cell phone. Those with him at his home, including family members, were "concerned with his emotional well-being," Aaron said.

I don't wish mental anguish on anyone...
But seriously??? Wow... for someone who had a ton of swagger while in Austin, this kid seems to be falling quick.

from all accounts...it looks like some of his teammates are doubting his ability & maybe accusing him of quitting...
Keith Bullock said this:
"I am hoping it is not a 16-week thing, but at the end of the day we want to have the No. 1 defense in the league, so if we have to play 90 snaps to get that, that's what we're going to have to do,'' linebacker Keith Bullock said.
"No one is going to quit on this side of the ball.''

Another site i frequent, said that he got in a physical fight with his manager/agent and locked himself in the titans practice facility with a gun...that was around midnight...and i doubt highly this went down...but is amusing to hear about.
one thing the was certain was that he was booed off the field sunday and didn't want to even play but the titans coach talked him into it.

This seems to be a pattern with UT football players. (VY, Ricky Williams, Cedric Benson, etc)
They are worshipped like gods at UT and then go to the NFL and can't handle the scrutiny from fans and the media.

Never has there been a more extreme case of this than Young at Texas. The love, passion, and support of horn fans for VY can best be described as "worship." They follow him as disciples and it goes WAY over the top. I know I get a lot of flack for the "Lane love", but I don't even compare to the horn fans and their love of VY.
Then, he goes to Tennessee and the honeymoon lasts for one season. Now he's expected to deliver, and he isn't measuring up to the expectations that were blown way out of proportion.
The closest thing to this that I've seen is Ricky Williams, who used to wear his helmet in interviews and claimed a social disorder.

I wonder if any of this will be enough to get the freakin tu morons to stop calling in to Houston sports radio and bitching because we took Mario Williams instead of VY? I can only dream that it would be so...

I hope he doesn't have depression because if he does, people will never look at him the same again. I know because I get the same looks from people that know that I live with depression. He needs to see a doc and get screened. If he is diagnosed as depressed, there are medications he can take that will help get eveything in order.

I wasn't laughing. I do find it funny that one makes an issue of how they get treated differently when people find out they are depressed & then posts that on the internet for the entire world to see The irony is quite humorous....the disease, not so much.

I think Mike & Mike made a very good point...
In that draft that VY came out, both VY & Leinart both came out as College Football gods.... While in a distant 3rd out of Vandy, Cutler was from that... Cutler's claim to fame (big game) was pushing Florida to Over Time... Other than that, his Win-Loss record was laughable compared to VY & Matt.
Yet, Cutler proved his grit, did his best to impress NFL scouts & had to over come more than VY & Matt combined...
Now, Cutler has obviously out-performed both VY & Matt combined & in year 3, he is doing what is expected from NFL QB's in their 3rd & 4th year... He is leading his team. I know it's just 1 game, but he was doing it last year & seems to be taking off right where he finished.
Basically, their point was Matt & VY had everything handed to them in College and are now struggling in a league where they are nothing special & both the Arizona & Tennessee fan bases are getting tired of them... while Cutler is now reeping the benifits of his hard work.

HELL NO!!!!
That's almost as bad as Kurt Warner's wife getting involved... Not saying it's the main reason, but I'm sure the flack he took for that in the locker room, didn't make him all that sad, when he left St. Louis...
Same thing with McNabb & when his mom went on the radio, he caught a ton of flack, not only from his teammates, but even more flack from the fans.
Nothing against VY or his Mom, because we all know Mom's will be mom's... but you know you are going to catch flack, when you are being paid MILLIONS to play a game, and because of some booing, your mommy has to come to your defense....:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
Man... I wonder what would have happened to VY had he ended up in Philly or NY... Heaven help him had he ended up with those fan bases..
I'm Sorry, but I doubt Anderson in Cleveland had his mommy step in for him..

I also find it funny, how t-sips in Austin still defend him to the death, while Tenn fans are starting to grow tired of him & since they don't have those burnt orange sun glasses on, they see him for what he is & that is why he get's the boo's.
His old fans love him, his new fans are growing tired of him.

Am I missing something? Let's see...
1. Vince left his house without his cell phone.
2. He went over to a friend's house to watch a game and eat wings.
3. "He then came to the practice facility, where it was determined that those initial concerns by his friends and family were unfounded and he returned home without incident"
OMFG WHAT A HEADCASE!!1!1!!one!!!1!!eleven!!!!
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/rolleyes.gifCome on guys, none of you, including me, knows what is going on here. To say that Vince is a baby and needs to grow up is ridiculous. What exactly did the man do wrong last night? I'm sure he's upset about his injury and also the way he has played. If you're a VY fan you obviously want to see him do well and are pulling for him. Time will tell as to whether he was worthy to be picked number three overall in the draft. I think the Titans management might have jumped to conclusions and made more out of this than there was to it.He would have been a waste anywhere. I'm a huge UT fan which obviously makes me a big VY fan. Lets be honest, Vince just doesn't have what it takes upstairs to be a top flight NFL QB like he was expected to be.
Those are 3 posts on a car board i'm on about the whole situation...2/3 are in complete denial about the situation. One thing i read last night said, when your family has to call the cops to find you, something is seriously out of line in your life.
Oh him acting like a baby and his mom coming to his rescue....remember he pouted and pouted about the whole Heisman thing too.

The posts about him being a god in Austin are right on. He was here a few weeks ago for the jersey retirement and all he heard was how great he is and how the Titans are doing nothing to help him by not putting any players around him.
He is also still stuck on not winning the Heisman. Get over it VY. That was a long time ago. If he can't get over that, how is he ever going to make it in the NFL.
Every week, it is becoming more clear that the Texans did the right thing in getting Mario. I said the day that it happened that I was pissed, but that we needed to wait a couple of seasons to see if it was the right move. Here it is in year 3 and they definitely made the right move.

Check this out. It is from the police report. The po po's took this very seriously.
"On 09/08/2008 at approximately 2030 hours SWAT officers responded to #1 Titans Way to support Central Precinct officers with a check on the welfare call. SWAT officers were tasked with checking various locations utilizing unmarked vehicles in an effort to locate a subject for the purpose of checking his welfare. At approximately 2300 hours we were advised that the subject in question had made contact with Jeff Fisher and agreed to meet him at the Titans practice facility located on Great Circle Road in the Metro Center area. We were tasked with responding to that location and provide security for the arranged meeting. At approximately 2335 hours the subject in question (Vince Young) arrived at the Titans Practice facility. Crisis Negotiators made the initial contact with the subject as he sat in his car. Shortly after the initial contact the subject exited his vehicle to continue the dialog with the crisis negotiators. SWAT officers approached Mr. Young and checked his person for weapons. Mr. Young agreed to continue talking with officers inside the practice facility in a conference room. SWAT officers stood by outside of the conference room while Mr. Young talked with officers and a psychologist. After meeting with the psychologist, Mr. Young left the practice facility by himself in his vehicle. SWAT officers were then relieved of any further duties."

QB’s mother: Titans’ Young ‘hurting inside’

Tennessee Titans quarterback V…
AP - Sep 8, 7:27 pm EDT 1 of 2 NFL Gallery NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—The mother of Titans quarterback Vince Young said he indicated he doesn’t want to play football and is “hurting inside and out.”
Felicia Young said in Wednesday editions of The Tennessean that her son is tired of all the negativity he’s faced after being booed during a 17-10 win Sunday over Jacksonville. On Monday, Titans coach Jeff Fisher called police to help find him.
“What would you think, if you were tired of being ridiculed and persecuted and talked about and not being treated very well, what would you do? What kind of decision would you make?” Felicia Young said “He may not want to deal with it (all), but you have to get to that point before you make that decision first.
“But we’re not talking about football right now. We’re talking about what would make him happy, and that is the most important thing.”
The phone number for Young’s home is unlisted, and his agent, Major Adams, did not answer his cell phone Wednesday morning. The Titans did not immediately return a message left by The Associated Press.
This isn’t the first time that Young has talked of wanting to quit football. He told a reporter last spring that he thought of retiring after his rookie season, a statement he said later was taken out of context.

The No. 3 pick overall in the 2006 draft, Young won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and followed up by helping the Titans reach the playoffs last season with a 10-6 record. He has been criticized for his passing struggles, with nine touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 2007.
His mental state has been in question since being booed Sunday after his second interception during the Jacksonville game. He didn’t want to go back into the game until prodded by Fisher.
He sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee four plays later and could be out for up to four weeks. Fisher said Tuesday night he is only ruling Young out for Sunday’s game at Cincinnati.
Young didn’t go to the team’s offices Monday and postponed his MRI exam until Tuesday. He met with a psychologist at his home Monday along with Fisher and another team official.
Four hours of uncertainty followed Monday night when Young left his home without his phone, prompting someone at his home to call Fisher. He called police to help find the quarterback and had a meeting late Monday night with Young and police crisis negotiators at the team’s headquarters.
Young later drove home.
Felicia Young said her son needs some space.
“It is hard, all he is going through right now. He’s hurting inside and out,” she told the newspaper.
“But he will be fine if people are prayerful and help my baby boy out. He is a young man. He just needs a lot of love and support.”

The very best thing that could happen to him right now is to put him in at RB behind Collins. Take away the mental part of the game, stop making him throw the ball into defenses he doesn't understand, and just let him run.

They were blasting him pretty on ESPN / Dallas this afternoon around 2:30 PM.
It was stated that several pro scouts won't even look at tu players because Mack Brown pampers them. They are coddled by the entire town of Austin while they are there, and then expected to go n and do great things out in the real world, and it often fails. But instead of more coddling like they would get in Austin if they had a bad day, they get booed, and they can't handle it, and they fall apart. One scout was mentioned by name (San Diego Charger scout), but it was emphasized many times that there are several scouts who feel that way.
Then they start talking about VY specifically, and his mom's comments, and they mentioned that when he got booed at tu and started getting angry emails, Mack Brown had his assistants had to put together a "feel good" scrap book full of nice stories about VY, and they put together a video collage of good highlight clips for VY, to try and bolster his confidence, that he watched over and over again.
The "bare chested party" (we had pictures here!) was even mentioned as more evidence the kid has issues.
It was the first time I've ever heard the tu program get bashed. The dude doing it is apparently a Baylor homer, but at least they are good for something occasionally.

Well, at least Simms is accustomed to being booed (dating all the way back to college) and won't have a mental breakdown over it.

Yeah, I can see this. Kinda like when kids in high school get used to knocking out all their homework in homeroom without really studying, and it is just fine to ace high school, but when they get to college, they don't konw how to study well, and fall on their face.

yesterday...Haynesworth (on a local sports talk show) said the following:
(I'm paraphrasing)
Q: Albert, you experienced some booing while playing @ Tennessee...how did you deal with it?
A: It's just part of the game...you have to realize they're booing your sucky play...not you (personally). If you can't take the criticism, you shouldn't be playing a man's game.

Fisher: Young must earn job back <http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/66093 (http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/66093)>
Coach Jeff Fisher said when Vince Young is healthy he's going to have to show he's made progress on all fronts before resuming his duties as the starter. And that could be a while. Young generated a lot of negative attention Sunday when he initially refused to go back into the game against Jacksonville. He suffered the knee injury a few plays later. The next day Fisher called the police to search for Young because the coach was worried about his quarterback, who was missing for several hours. Fisher made no promises as to when Young will be back. The Titans diagnosed Young with a sprained medial collateral ligament, an injury that's sidelined

The VY thing is surreal...I hope he is just being immature. I personally helped pick up the bloody remanants of a friends' dad who had depression....no joke for sure.
Chris Simms had his spleen ruptured and kept playing...doesn't seem to whiny to me....then got jacked completely by Tampa Bay this season and didn't say a word to the press in a negative fashion. He might have played for tu but he handed himself with class.
