... or HELL NO, just in case he's right.

Fear Looms Over Scientist's Experiment to Uncover Secrets of 'Big Bang'
A British physicist has claimed he can explain the secrets of the Big Bang Theory, but his controversial experiment has scientists believing he could bring about the end of the world, the U.K.'s Daily Mail reported.

For centuries, scientists have sought unsuccessfully to unlock the secrets of the Big Bang Theory — a model explaining the birth of the universe. But 63-year-old Dr. Lyn Evans of Aberdare, England, popularly known as "Evans the Atom," claims to know the answers, and will test his experiment on Wednesday by using a 17-mile-long doughnut-shaped tunnel that will smash sub-atomic particles together at the speed of light, the Mail reported.

Evans' ambitions, however, have brought widespread concern among scientists who say the experiment could create a shower of unstable black holes inside the Earth, and subsequently bring destruction to the planet.

"Nothing will happen for at least four years," retired German Otto Rossler told the Mail. "Then someone will spot a light ray coming out of the Indian Ocean during the night and no one will be able to explain it."

Isn't the world supposed to end in 2012 anyway?

At least according to the Mayan calendar, Nostradamus, and an old Catholic prophet... I believe we discussed this a few weeks ago

Would that be in early 2012 or late 2012.

Do you think we will be able to see the end of the regular college football season before the end?

Maybe someone should strongly consider rescheduling all those BCS Bowl games in December of our final year.

I used to be a physics major here at A&M, and we talked at length about something like this happening. Our professor was very clear that the chances of this actually happening is extremely small, basically the black hole would have to appear right next to the nucleus of a gold atom(which is pretty heavy and dense for atoms), for it to do anything. I just think it is kind of ironic that they said it would be 4 years before anyone would notice, which brings us at the end 2012. Whether you believe in all of those prophecies about that date, or not, it is pretty strange to think about.

Dang ya'll beat me to the 2012 talk, I thought I was going to sound all smart! ;)

Ya know, the Mayan's and the Chinese aren't the only ones to predict 2012 as the end. Einstein also predicted that the Earth's magnetic shield would start reversing polarity and we would be exposed to intense microwaves and infrared radiation from the sun, not good! We all would need to live underground like they had to in H.G. Well's "The Time Machine"

People have been claiming the end of the world for centuries and it's never happened. And Nostradamus didn't predict the end of the world in any year, though every doomsday predictions seems to try to lend itself credibility by claiming he did. http://www.allaboutpopularissues.org/did-nostradamus-predict-the-end-of-the-world-faq.htm

I don't even see why someone would worry about the end of the world. If it's meant to end, it will end, regardless of what we do.

I wonder how many people really want to know how much time they have left on earth?

Some people do know how much time they have and handle it well.

Exactly, you only have to worry about it if you believe that the Mayans didn't just get tired of making their calendar. They might have just thought that someone else down the line would continue the calendar. They already had 1000 years in advance, and it is kind of silly that they would think they need anymore. It is a fun thought experiment though. What would you do if you knew that the world was going to end in 4 years? Tell people and risk being committed to a mental health facility, save up a ton of money until that last 6 months and blow all of it and hope you are right or what?
