It is way to early to start talking about Sherman on the hot seat no matter how bad we do. If he goes 1 and done or even 2 years, good luck getting a top flight coach to come here. Also, that will set the program back lord knows how long trying to put in another system so soon.

Should of gave Fran 1 more year or went and got a proven college coach to start with.

If we have to get ANOTHER coach then it would have been too long. It's already been ten years or so since we were even thought of.
Best bet is just to bank on Sherman. If he tanks and we have losing seasons that might be it for a very long time for the program.

its not going to matter with sherman.... hes here for 5 yrs minimum. we cant afford his buyout now even if we wanted to let him go (which as mad as i am its far too early to want him gone).

Worst post of the year nominee.

Me I would gave Fran more time let him make a few changes and see how this season played out. Fran and his offense win 7 to 8 games with these players. For some reason Fran fails to get to a bowl then I go out and hire a proven college coach like Rich Rod or Mike Bellotti type coaches that know the college game and what it takes to win in college.

I greatly accept that award because Fran would wipe the floor with Sherman after what I seen last night. 17 total yards of offense in the second half. McGee gets that on one zone read play last night if Frans the coach.

superior athletes should win this game regardless of who is coaching.

I want to give it a few more games....i don't like what i saw at all last night...seemed like we just put on the cruise and coasted to the 4th quarter.

wow. did we really only have 17 yards of offense in the 2nd half? that is truly pathetic.

Burnet, what are you smoking? If Fran is coach last night, we MIGHT get two FG's instead of two TD's, and that is if by some miracle the playmakers even are able to get on the field despite Fran's desire to bench them.

I'm by no means saying we should have kept Fran, nor am I saying that Fran is a better coach....HOWEVER, Fran would have owned Arkansas St. Undersized, slow guys on defense would have had no answer to Mike & McGee in open space. The D is what it is....actually, it looked pretty much the same as what I had seen the last 2 seasons. But Fran's scheme that he had been running on offense would've put up 35-42 on them.

Question Dustin...
Did Sherm & Co. have McGee do any role outs???
I have always understood Role Outs & things like that should help an O'Line & it keeps even blitz happy defenses from keying in on one spot of the field for where they expect your QB to be...
Was that done at all or was it always a s straight drop back & if McGee got out it was because he had to???

Here is the problem I see with McGee. He is one of those guys who is okay with taking a hit as long as he is the one delivering it or if he can at least lower his shoulder. He seems absolutely terrified to take a hit when in a vulnerable position (i.e. throwing a pass.)
He rolled out a lot, but very rarely was it a designed roll out. Rather than stepping up in the pocket, he flushed himself & rolled right, just like he always does. There were times, we he had no chance in the pocket, but more often than not, he flushed when he didn't have to.
Its these types of things that really have me concerned about the season. I don't see how we are going to fix the problems I saw. You can't teach a QB to stay in the pocket in a week. You can't teach him to go through his progressions & find the guy wide open in the middle of the field. You can't teach our LBs to make plays within 5 yards of the LOS. The only thing that I see as being fixable is tackling & blocking. The O-line is a talented group. They are just inexperienced. Possibly, with time, they will continue to improve. Missed tackles was a major problem. Possibly, with some emphasis on it, they will be able to cut down on those.
I hope to see a completely different team on Saturday, but I don't expect to.

I have thought about this, and I think I have come up with the answer to the comparison of Fran to Sherman.
Fran won his game against Arkansas St. with less skilled players that had been trained exceptionally well by RC. Sherman lost his game against Arkansas St. with more skilled players, but with crappy Fran training.
It will take some time for him to unlearn what they have learned. Sucks for the seniors.

Obviously it takes time, but how much do you think the players do NOT trust the calls from the coaches???
I remember going reading the same things Fran's 1st year & for several other programs around the country.. It happens & it's natural....
But from what I have read... It seems there is a lot of dis-trust going on right now....

I don't think there is any distrust at all. If anything its "Old Habits Are Hard to Break!"

That's what I was thinking... I was just reading Sherm's comments after the game & he used "lack of trust"...
I remember Fran saying the same thing....
But when you're coached one way for 3 or 4 years & then asked to do the same thing a different way... It takes time.
