Personally, I love college basketball and I could not be happier that the Aggies are making some noise in bb. Here are a few things that are ongoing for Aggie hoops
Chinemelu Elonu, is a 6'9" center that signed a letter of intent with New Mexico State last year. New Mexico State had a coaching change and the coach that recruited Elonu is no longer there, so he did not want to attend. He is, according to several sources, currently enrolled at Texas A&M. It is unclear whether New Mexico State has released him of his letter of intent but he is in Aggieland, so depending on what happens, he may be eligible this year or may have to sit out a year. He played his high school ball at Alief Elsik, his is thin so he needs to gain some weight, word on the street is the kid's skills are still raw, but he has tremedous potential.
Tomorrow, 9/17, is a big recruiting weekend for the Aggies. I have heard that three big time recruits will be taking their official visits. The three are Derrick Roland, Donald Sloan, and Bryan Davis, here is a bit of info on them.
Derrick Roland, 6'4" 184 lbs, Seagoville (Dallas, TX) 4 star according to rivals, shooting guard with very good defensive skills, he apparently has narrowed his choices down to Arizona State, Texas A&M, and UNLV
Donald Sloan, 6'2" 170 lbs, Seagoville (Dallas, TX) 3 star on Rivals, point guard, several schools listed as his favorites
Bryan Davis, 6'8" 225 lbs, Grand Prairie, TX, 4 star on rivals, power forward, this kid has some tremendous skills and is a big time recruit, several schools listed as his favorites, word on the street is the Aggies have a good chance, but we will have to wait and see.
That is all I've got for now, but it is pretty clear Coach Gillisipie is making some noise on the recruiting trail, and the Aggie Basketball program is quickly becoming a force.
